Animal noises

Kind of a weird question, I know, but do we ever hear any of the following animal sounds in Trek and where? (Asking for Memory Alpha)

* Honk (of a goose)
* Moo
* Neigh/Whinny
* Oink
* Quack

Sounds like the majority of my local library computer users. PLATO'S STEPCHILDREN has major Shat-whinny at the close of Act Two. (Hated Parmen, but loved it anyway.) Crusher either barked, honked or quacked thanks to Q. Or was it all three? And Mariette Hartley did once oink, but that glorious moment was on THE MORNING PROGRAM in 1987 on CBS, not ALL OUR YESTERDAYS. I suppose Sulu would have eventually mooed in WOLF IN THE FOLD.....and there is a stock sound effect in two episodes of TOS which sounds like distressed female whinnying. Merry Christmas to all.

Aren't there horse (or "unicorn"??) neighs/whinnies/harrumphs in ST:V?

Oh, and I think a holographic horse whinnies/neighs in LDS: "I, Excretus" as it tramples Mariner :lol: :guffaw:

Asking for Memory Alpha

And you intend to write articles on MA for these?

I always find it weird that MA has articles for stuff like apples or knives and searching… yeah, there are MA articles for ‘meow’, ‘hissing’ and ‘bark’.

I won’t stop you. I can’t in fact. However, it is okay not to write those articles. Truly, (next to) nobody cares when a goose honks in Star Trek. ;)

Time could definitely be better spent elsewhere. :lol:

For more neutral sounds such as howl, buzz, etc, you can find out which things make that sound, so if in a story, the characters hear a sound and try to guess what it is, you can see what options there are.

Knowing the way Memory Alpha is about Canon, I suspect there might be a debate going on over there as to whether a cow canonically moos, a horse canonically neighs or a duck canonically quacks, After all, MA won't acknowledge water is wet unless you can cite a line in a Star Trek episode or movie canonically stating so.

We heard a horse whinny in the original pilot, "The Cage."

TAS had quite a few creature sounds—as did SuperFriends.
