Alternate TNG?

^How about another Vulcan? I always though Ensign Vorik from Voyager had some potential, and I also always thought it would be nice to see Vulcans interact with each other -- we almost always see them looking askance at us wayward humans.

Or a Bajoran would be nice -- one of those like Ro or Kira who are always on the edge of smackin' somebody upside the head. But it could be a new Bajoran since apparently a LOT of them are like that...or maybe I'm stereotyping here.

Well, you have Taurik already who was played by the same actor as Vorik (and IIRC was supposed to be his twin) who was on the Enterprise already as seen in lower decks. Doctor Selar was alas only used once too. If they wanted to get rid of Beverly, why not replace her with Selar outright? A Vulcan doctor's bedside manner would put Pulaski to shame.

I didn't notice that we "have Taurik already" -- too many names to fit in in my purty little head, I guess. I think Dr. Selar would be cool, though. Or perhaps fascinating.

Yeah, I've always blurred Taurik with Vorik anyway... for a long time, I thought they were the same character. :p

Somebody "bizarre" on con...well, I wouldn't say she's bizarre, but how about that third captain from "Conspiracy" -- (googling, googling) Tryla Scott? Or is con too lowly for Tryla, who I seem to recall is, according to "Conspiracy," one of the youngest/most brilliant/most whatever captains, etc., etc., etc.

That's pretty awesome. I always liked the actor that played Kyle Riker and feel he would have been a good lead if the character was softened up as you've done. (Was Mrs. Riker really named Betty?) First Officer Data with bad puns seems like a nice combination of Spock and Data with shades of the 'Xon' character from Phase II.

Imagining TNG-era Janeway, Chakotay, and Tuvok is a really cool mental picture. I can just see Kathy in sciences blue (since they needn't worry about her skin color clashing with it like Data) sitting at ops reporting with Chakotay at the pilot station next to her. I bet they'd flirt during slow periods. I also can't help but remember Tim Russ from 'Spaceballs' and imagine him scanning for enemy vessels here only to reply 'We ain't found shit.' :rommie:

I also particularly like the idea of T'Rul aboard. I always liked her, and the idea of her being reverse-Worf is great. She should be romantically interested in young Chakotay, since Martha Hackett also played Seska. :p

And Counselor Yar is a good chuckle too.

Thanks, Praetor! I forgot to mention a steamy romance between the younger Chakotay and Janeway, but it was definitely on my mind when I envisoned them as younger officers serving right next to each other. There's nothing that says the ops officer has to be in ops gold, too. I think Janeway would look good in blue.

BTW, Mitchell Ryan, who played Kyle Riker, was also the main villain in Lethal Weapon, General McCallister. He was quite good in it, and his fate is poetic justice. I got Betty Riker's name from Memory Alpha, so I guess at some point her name was mentioned, but I don't recall if it was on screen or just a script reference.

Yeah, T'Rul was quite snarky in the DSN ep where she's introduced, The Search, and I have a thing for Martha Hackett anyway. Not a typical beauty, but she has something. But then again, I dig Linda Hamilton!

And JustKate, you just put an idea in my head by mentioning Dr. Selar. She appeared in only one ep, and I think in another she's being paged to report to sick bay, but I just don't recall which one. As for a Vulcan's bedside manner, it probably isn't much better than the EMH's or Pulaski's!

Great minds, my friend. ;) I think she'd look really good in a season one blue uniform... I may have to do some photoshopping for these.

Ahh, that's the other thing I remember him from. There's something else obscure I remember seeing him in too. And Betty, eh? That's so odd. I guess you learn something new every day.

Yeah, I liked T'Rul cuz she had such a 'tude. And you're right, Martha has something about her that's charming. She was recently in an episode of 'Dexter' and you could tell they tried to make her look rough but she was still very nice looking and sympathetic. And there's nothing wrong with Linda Hamilton.
