"Agent Carter" season one discussion and spoilers

It may be - but the googling I did when I first heard about it, plus some offline sources, goes with the ammo belt origin.

"Give him the whole nine yards!"
(Which you probably didn't want to do, 'cause then you're out of ammo, or the guns overheat or jam or... it's a whole thing...)

Interesting. According to wikipedia...

The whole nine yards or full nine yards is a colloquial American phrase meaning "everything, the whole lot" or, when used as an adjective, "all the way," as in, "The Army came out and gave us the whole nine yards on how they use space systems."[1] Its origin is unknown and has been described as "the most prominent etymological riddle of our time."[2]

Tonight...

"Time & Tide" - As Agent Carter closes in on Howard Stark's stolen technology, Peggy's secret mission could unravel when the SSR arrests Jarvis and a secret is revealed, on "Marvel's Agent Carter."

It pretty much is, yeah. Certainly, it's the only one I can think of where traveling a specific number of yards has significance. But that significance is for ten yards.

Darn right! Who coined the name "Ant-Man", anyway? (Same genius who coined "Absorbing Man", I trust?)
Both Stan "The Man" Lee...a genius in my book...albeit a sometimes-corny one.

Also the same guy who coined the name "Spider-Man".

But, see, that's what I don't get: Stan went to great lengths to come up with a name that sounded cool for "Spider-Man", and not goofy.

And yet..."Ant-man". And "Absorbing Man".

Times were different, and Stan and his artistic collaborators were practically shitting out new super-characters.

AND...here we go!

Act I:
Clever, Shakespeare as the symbol book. Poe, and all that....

Funny opening. Poor Jimmy.

Good to see, again, that Carter's superiors are not idiots.

"Colleague" indeed. Be sure you don't blow your cover with that terminology.

The "no men above the first floor" thing: Supposed to be reactionary stuff to treatment of women at the work force, or is it stereotypical "Puritan Mores" or something?

Nice to see the SSR guys establishing Stark's alibi...but this puts them on the trail of Peggy and Jarvis.

Good for Jarvis with his (detailed!) alibi...I wouldn't be surprised if he did establish one with the detective he mentioned.

Act II:

Jarvis again handling things like a sir.

Interesting note about his backstory. I wonder....

I'm amazed the chief isn't seeing through "I need your sig"...but then, he's got no reason to suspect Carter of anything, I suppose.

Too bad her cover for Jarvis is to "prove" her incompetence.

Act III:

Okay--pronounced intro to "Dorothy Underwood". Build-up to something important about her?

Ouch. Poor Sousa.

VERY intriguing backstory for Jarvis!

So...did "Leviathan" have that underground passage dug, or was it Stark?

Act IV:

Love Jarvis's mock interrogation! Great points all the way, ol' boy.

Cute with the accents!

Geez, Peggy, learn to watch your BACK!

Act V:

Hmm...opening fight here is almost Frank Miller-like in its rawness!

Figures Sousa's the one looking the gift horse in the mouth....

Still loving the chief's characterization. Sexist or no, he's a professional who knows his job.

Figures Carter was right--he's a witness. Ironically, the bad guys have it covered....

Can anyone identify the song that was playing in the car before the commercial? Sounded like some pre-R&R R&B.

Act VI:

Hole's dug deeper. And they're still blaming Stark.

Peggy's beginning to open up. But again, I can't help but wonder if the waitress isn't just a friend...and they're building up to her being a mole, or something.

Trailer:
"Two weeks", huh? And Howard involved in something dirty....
