Scrubs

I have to admit SCRUBS has been wonderful this season and has gotten back to the smaller character stories with the little bits of drama thrown in alongside the always stellar comedy that made the early seasons of Scrubs truly wonderful. The interns have grew on me and Howie is becoming a real funny character but while its a nice fresh way to deliver plots for the season, I don't think it would work fo a spinoff but ABC will probably do it anyway.

Scrubs gets over 5 million when IDOL is not against it so a possibly spinoff can takeadvantage of that just keep it away from IDOL as much as possible and 8 million should keep ABC happy.

Didn't mind the episode. Howie doesn't do much for me. The ending voice over not been JD seemed wrong...if another season does come about it will be interesting to see how Scrubs fairs

The episode was fine and it found good uses for all the interns, but I wouldn't want to watch a series based around them any more than I'd want to watch a series based around the Todd. He has his place, he is a supporting comedic character and so are the interns.

It was definitely a better episode than the last JD-less outing.

The location filming was beautiful. I'm a little pissed we didn't hear the Janitor's name though, it would have been the perfect opportunity. It sounded like it started with "Sh-". Shamus? Shane? Shaun? ... Did you know there's only THREE episodes left after this?! I had no idea we were that close to the end! Hopefully the finale will be an hour long or something, because up till now we really haven't had any lead up to an ending aside from the Janitor getting married (which isn't terribly important really).

Agreed. It was nice to see SCRUBS creator Bill Lawrence making an onscreen appearance as well.

Yeah, he mentioned in a podcast a little while ago that he gave himself a role and he was a shitty actor. I actually think he did better than he gives himself credit for.

I'm betting that they go for a "regular" ending to the series. By that I mean nothing major will happen, no deaths, no marriages, no hospital closing, just a nice, happy last episode at the hospital and then fade to black. Letting us know that life will go on for these characters just like it always has, we just won't be watching them anymore.

^ Has the show definitely been cancelled/not renewed for another season?

Well Zach Braff (J.D.), Judy Reyes (Carla), and Bill Lawrence (the show's creator) are all leaving at the end of this season, and without them, there wouldn't really be much point in continuing it, so it's definitely ending with the last episode of this season. Which, by the way, is called "My Finale".

logically I agree, but this is USTV, I would not be one bit surprised if they squeeze one more season out of it.

I honestly don't know why they would. I love Scrubs dearly but it's not exactly a ratings winner. I'm shocked and amazed it's lasted 8 years. Glad, though.

there are plenty of those that just refuse to die these days, Smallville being one example.

its funny, new shows dont get much of a chance, but a long running show, will often get a extra season for no good reason, was there really a good reason for ABC to pick up Scrubs, there is even talk of FOX airing My Name is Earl, which is long past its prime.

L&O: SVU (I think its that one) we wont cancel it, but we will fire the cast, and make it with cheaper actors.

There was a reason for ABC to pick up Scrubs but that's only because its last season on NBC left it in such dismal shape. I'd be really sad if it ended like that with that shitty fantasy episode.

There's a quote by Bill Lawerence's somewhere(I initially saw the article link on avsforum), where Bill Lawerence basically said ABC wants to bring Scrubs back if they can get Braff to do a few episodes. I wouldn't be surprised if he agreed to do like 7 or 8 episodes. It would leave him plenty of time to do movies. What was weird about it was that it seemed like Lawerence was coming back in the post. Maybe hes lacking confidence in his new show.

Yeah, this season has been totally awesome and I am really glad that they are sending the show off on a high note.

Quoted for truth. If the show's finale had been what they came up with last season, it would have been rotten. I really like this season - they've taken time to step back, reflect, and comment on the show in general (Cox & his wife finally admitting they love each other, etc.), and that has been delightfully refreshing. "My Soul on Fire" was just great. :)

I got to say, aside from two episodes (also, I missed two episodes), this season has been pretty bland and even bad. Most episodes have been no better than hte last two which many Scrubs fans just hate. It's lacked the energy, excitment, snappy dialogue, characters we knew and loved, and most importantly -- funny jokes.

I got so excited for this new season when Bill LAwrence said in preairing interviews that the show was going back to it's roots and that all these long annoying and ostentatious gags would go, but so far the show has NOT gone back to it's roots, and those damn gags have still popped up. Nothing I give a toot about has happened this season, and so much time was wasted on pointless stupid new interns. If I had known in advance this was going to be what it was, I would simply not have tuned in. The only reason I am sticking with it is because there are only like two or three episodes left.

And ABC -- LET THE SHOW DIE.

I'm currently watching Scrubs from the start with my girlfriend (into S3 right now). We'd seen episodes here and there in the past and loved the show. So we really wanted to catch up.

Well, we just watched an episode tonight which is probably one of my absolute favorites. It's one of those examples where the show manages the IMHO incredible task of being extremely funny as well as extremely touching and moving at the same time.

I'm talking about "My Screwup". I'd seen it before, but I'd actually forgotten the way it ended. It only hit me in that moment when Dr. Cox is on the graveyard talking to Ben and J.D. walks up to him and asks him where he thinks he is.

That moment when you realize that Ben has been dead trough most of the episode is just incredibly powerful, I think. It really speaks for the show and its creators that they're able to pull off stuff like this that many 'serious' shows wouldn't do half was well, I think.

I haven't seen the later seasons yet. But suffice it to say, I think the show is absolutely amazing when it's at its best.

P.S.: I was thinking about Ben and for how long he's dead in the episode. Is it basically from the point onwards when he doesn't have his camera on him anymore?
