Actually, I think we are on the 4th boat, at this point.

Question: did anyone else wonder, before the show did (via Mann), how he was gonna get that boat outta there?

I know I did. I even watched those scenes really carefully, just to make sure I wasn't missing some door or something.....

Same here. I kept thinking maybe it wasn't his basement, it was his garage.

Exactly. I thought maybe it was one of those kind of houses built on a hill so that what appears to be a basement (the stairs down from what is clearly the main floor) is really a back-side-of-the-house garage.

But then you see that opposite wall and the two side walls, and go 'Nope....nothing even CLOSE to a garage door anywhere IN that room.'

But then, that boat-he-can-never-use thing is so....Gibbs. He's building it not because he wants a boat, but because he likes the process of building the boat.

It's the same with his job - he has no desire for upward mobility. Wants no part of ever being the Director. And when he was acting director for a couple of weeks, hated every minute of it and avoided doing those tasks at every turn.

What makes Gibbs interesting is that he knows himself very well. And makes no apologies for being exactly who he is...even if his is not 'the textbook way of doing it' sort of life.

Interestingly, though, in one of the special features, Mark Harmon said that he would never in a million years want to hang out with Gibbs IRL.

Something tells me that Gibbs isn't the kind of person that a lot of people would like to hang out with. He can be intense from what we've seen on the show.

Only during the job when they're tracking down a killer.

Also, does anyone else suspect that Gibbs suffers from PTSD? I think he was starting to get over it when the show started but it came back when he was shot and then all the other things that happened made it even worse.

What's really going to get nuts is when Gibbs turns into Two-Face, McGee turns into Riddler, Ducky turns into Mad Hatter and Ziva turns into Poison Ivy, and DiNozzo has to put on the cape and cowl to stop them.

No way, DiNozzo would turn into the Joker.

Sorry, I don't understand whatever reference you're making. :p

Perhaps they are saving that for sweeps.

Ack, spoilers!! Though in fairness you were vague with the rest :)

So I'm halfway through season one. Just finished the ep where Ari makes his first appearance. And having seen the end of season 2 and the beginning of season 3 over the holidays when i discovered the show i know how pivotal this ep was/is.

Wait, i think i just gave away my own spoiler... what i hypocrite i am....

Loving the show so far, even more so after the last 5-6 eps I've watched. It's truly the characters and the banter between them.

Oh and the wink Kate gives Dinozzo during the iguana scene when he has no clothes on.... classic! That woman is immensely sexy.

Abby is still my favorite though ;)

Not sure how rewatchable the episodes will be on the second pass as the nature of these types of shows go, once you know the mystery there's not much suspence. But in reality that's the way it is with any show. Just more so with a procedural. Though the characters will probably bring me back for a second go around once I finish seasons 1-5 on dvd. For now I just want to enjoy it the first run through (and I am!)

Oh one more thing, and this may be a controversial statement but, if you're a Joss Whedon fan and you're not watching this show then you are missing out. This is the non-Whedon show that Whedon fans should be watching. It shares the same humour and attention to character dynamics. And there are times I find myself wondering if Whedon and his cohort Espenson aren't writing some of these stories.

I watched 7 episodes in a row today... that hasn't happened since the Buffy and DS9 dvd's first dropped. Bring on the rest of season 1!

Actually, I have found the episodes of NCIS to be extremely rewatchable due to the well-written banter and wonderful character dynamics. Once I know how the mystery is solved and who, what, or where the story's red herring is, I can focus on those character moments and catch details I might have missed the first viewing.:)

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

^ I agree. I find them rewatchable, too. I think that's because I'm far less interested in whodunnit than who's-solvin' it. :)
