Speaking of which I hope we get to see Amin, Nicola, Mann and Colt again in the series. I was hoping they would've been the ones as main cast members in the series instead of all brand new ones.

They aren't.

Tomorrow I think it will be M'Benga and Christine. Friday it will be Commanders Una-Chin Riley and Spock-o. and Saturday will be Mon Capitaine aka Pike .

They’re not wearing comm badges, they’re just deltas badges, no communication function, the same worn by Enterprise crew in Discovery S02, and Uhura’s Cadet delta badge is the same style as Tilly’s from the era in DSC S01-02. At the beginning of this trailer Number One is using an old school styled flip communicator.

And regardless, the show is 100% canon.

The little arrowheads in TOS are badges. I have a sash full of Boy Scout merit badges at home.
