I´m curious.
His book will be connected to Discovery, but would the book serve as a complement to the original story? A parallel plot? Other character development?

I probably will be, but at least on Amazon UK, the current release date for the UK ebook may be longer than I can wait (31st December - 2045) . I know it's been earlier than that last time I looked though.

On the same site though, the cross cult version is listed as due 2nd May.

The Cross Cult (the publisher of the German translations) one is just outdated. They have said in the past that they always have a hard time to get anything corrected by Amazon. FWIW they have it listed for September on their website, but I'm fairly sure that is just a placeholder date, just like the January 2018 one on David Mack's website.

Not a surprise as they do it all too often. The May date did feel too early but I wasn't sure how close to the netflix release they want to release the novel. (Though honestly, I haven't been keeping track of that either recently. I figured I'd hear about it when it was released)

Who would have thought there would be people interested in a Star Trek novel, on a Star Trek board?!?

I've only been sporadically interested in novels since the mid 90s. Having a direct tie-in to the show like this makes it a must-have for me.

I would imagine it will be published both ways, like the majority of Pocket's Star Trek line.
