Why did NBC cancel Dog Eat Dog Game Show?

I have been rewatching the "Dog Eat Dog" GAME SHOW Starring Brooke Burns on the Game Show Network. Does anybody know why the show was cancel after only two seasons? Please advise??

The combination of no one watching it and almost killing one of their contestants meant that it was not long for this world.

A shame it got cancelled. Brooke Burns is very easy on the eyes and the events were always entertaining to watch.

It wasn't as intellectually stimulating as American Gladiators, and lacked the subtle artistry of Fear Factor.

Brooke Burns was the worst gameshow host in the history of the world.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. At least she didn't have to register as a sex offender if the game show relocated to a new city, like this creep:

Interesting, last time I caught this show on GSN I had the opposite question - "why was this ever made into a show?"

You know the show I miss the most, Greed. I know that was like 11 years ago, but I have always wondered why Fox cancelled it.

As for Dog Eat Dog, I liked it, but man did it get dumb in the later years. Also, I don't think Brook Burns is that bad of a host. She does a decent job on GSN's The Chase. As for almost killing a contestant, I didn't know that. I looked it up and was it the Contestant having brain damage or something? Yikes.

Same reason why a network cancels any show. The ratings weren't high enough to demand a high enough price to sell advertising space to cover the costs of production.

I would think the question of why it was cancelled would include why it wasn't popular enough to have better ratings.

Greed just felt like a poor man's Millionaire so I can see why people weren't impressed.

Well, I thought Greed was better than Millionaire. Millionaire at that time was really boring, while Greed had the team element which made things a little more exciting.

I don't know what NBC's fascination with gameshows is.

I don't know what ABC's fascination with ripping off other game shows is.

What was the last gameshow ABC had?

I have no idea.

Game shows were an art form when I was a kid. Things will never be that way again - game shows these days aren't game shows, they're scripted comedy masquerading as game shows. And game show HOSTS? Forget it. There'll never again be guys like Gene Rayburn, Chuck Barris, Bob Barker, Tom Kennedy, Richard Dawson, Wink Martindale...

And just in case anyone was confused by my reference to ABC: Wipeout is a total, complete and utter ripoff of MXC. :scream:

Reading the description of the show on Wikipedia is all the explanation I need, to understand why it was canceled. In fact, I have trouble understanding why a pilot was even commissioned. It makes Wipeout seem like Jeopardy.

(And speaking of Jeopardy, I would hardly call it "scripted comedy masquerading as [a] game show." I only wish they'd included the Art Fleming era in the "Battle of the Decades.")

The thrill of Millionaire, like Jeopardy, is the ability to play at home. Greed just felt gimmicky to me when he was waving money in people's faces.

The show with the best team element was Weakest Link, imo.

I've been known, when a contestant gives some really stupid answer on a game show, to quote Ann Robinson's signature line, "You are the weakest link; goodbye."
