Where would you like to serve at?

I'd like a position in Cetacean Ops (I don't mind swimming around in whale wee

) and/or an aboretum (as I love gardening) on Earth Spacedock. In my off hours I could watch the ships coming and going, and would be within beaming distance (or a shuttle ride) of a planet in order to get some fresh outside air.

My main attraction to living in the ST universe would be the holodeck, I would be in there playing holodeck versions of Elder Scrolls or D&D every chance I could get. So for that reason I'd choose TNG Enterprise for ease of access. On Voyager it was rationed and in DS9 it cost money to use, doesn't even exist on the other ships.

In terms of vocation, IRL I have a background in engineering so I'd probably go with that rather than my current job - I don't really see there being a need for a historian in Starfleet. Maybe as a consultant? I'd probably just keep history as a hobby, like Picard and his archaeology.

Honestly though, if I was anything like my present day self then I'd probably never leave the academy and end up in a teaching position there. I can see myself hanging out with O'Brien post-Dominion War and knocking back a few pints with him after work. Or there's Disco era Academy which I think would be fascinating, much more history to cover! And Tilly reminds me of quite a few of the friends I've had over the years, so I can see myself getting along with her really well.

You've made me think about this way too much :cardie:

A nice little science ship, that out there just doing science and doesn't get in any trouble.
Maybe the titan A for a bit but leave for risa before frontier day.

If I were to choose in that timeline... First posting would likely be some non-flagship exploratory/utility vessel, an then working the way up to whatever position I'll be best suited for. Maybe even having my own ship eventually. But staying quite far away from "Flagship" vessels (except as a tourist for short period of time) unless I have to be there.

After reading that last post I want to elaborate on my previous comment about where I would serve.
I would join the engineering corps in Star Fleet and begin my career on a star base helping to design starships. Then I would be assigned to a small starship where I would eventually work my way up to Chief Engineer. Eventually after serving on several ships I would work my way up to Captain.
Then, I would probably teach at the Academy (Engineering and Temporal Mechanics), before becoming an Admiral in Star fleet Intelligence.
(Can you tell I have given this some thought??)

Very easy answer, Enterprise D without question. It feels like home and like a luxury cruise. The cast of that show feels like an extended family to me, and with Picard in charge, you have the best chance of survival. Of course, the holodeck as well.
