What was the 5th TNG movie supposed to be about?

I've read in several interviews over the years that while they were filming "Nemesis", John Logan and Brent Spiner were working on a concept for the 5th TNG movie. After "Nemesis" flopped the idea was scrapped.

I know it involved time travel, but that's about it. Does anyone have any idea what it as supposed to be about?

Yes, they traveled back in time to stop Nemesis from being made.

I read an interview with Spiner (no idea where, sorry) where he said the plan was to bring back Data, and then do a "Justice League" of Trek, bringing together all the crews to fight a group of baddies.

I'm glad they didn't make a fifth TNG movie, a TNG/DS9/VOY movie, or a Romulan War movie. With the Romulan War movie, at first I was was interested because the guy who wrote Band of Brothers was going to be scripting it but then I thought to myself, "Do I really care about this?" and the answer was no.

Choosing a reboot was a much better choice, given the other options.

I'd've rather just seen a NEW Star Trek series or film with new adventures and a new cast. I definitely think Paramount should've cleaned house and started fresh, and I'm amazed that with a reboot, but it was nicely done, so I can dig it.

I would have liked a 5th TNG movie, just because Nemesis was such a disappointment to so many people (myself included) as the final film (seems to be a trend, these days)

I like the idea of a crossover between the 24th Century Trek shows, working together to combat a threat, it would have given shows that needed a film (VOY) a chance to of conclusion and indeed a more fitting curtain call for TNG, I think the "Time Travel" concept should have been left out, its a very overused plot device, particulary in Trek and has only really worked in (COTEOF, TVH, Times Arrow, FC, etc)

Would have been nice to see a return from The Borg, after all the Borg affected each of the 24th Century Captains on a personal level, having them all work together to combat a real threat from the Borg (something groundbreaking this time, like the Borg acting as they should have been (a collective mind, forget the Queen) and displaying the real threat like they did in Q-Who, BOBW, etc

Heck, Picard could be both a Protagonist and Antagonist, with the Borg using his residual connection to them against him

It should have had Captain Riker(with Troi) of the U.S.S. Titan and Captain Picard (LaForge, Worf, Beverly, B4) on the 1701-E facing some totally new threat to the Federation. I would like to have seen Admiral Janeway and other select cast members from VOY and DS9 too.

Q would have been a good way of bringing them all together since all of the captains know him. He visited both Deep Space Nine and Voyager and Sisko mentioned attending a Starfleet meeting about him. I always thought if a movie about Q happened, a cool way to get the 'uninitiated' up to speed on him would be to show that actual meeting in the movie.

They have enough trouble coming up with screen time for The Next Generation minor characters. A crossover movie would essentially eliminate them.

Ah...but you're forgetting that the tagline was actually "A generation's final journey...BEGINS", which, as some cast members pointed out, worked both as a tagline for a final film, and an opening for a possible sequel.

A couple of cameos would haven't hurt. Just some brief appearances that highlight the appealing qualities of the characters without alienating general audiences by overexposure to characters they're not familiar with. Something like Barclay's appearance in "Star Trek: First Contact" would be ideal. I'd be sad if they did this without Jadzia, though, and post 2002 they would have had to .

I think that Nemesis brought closure to the entire TNG franchise. Riker and Troi have their own ship now, Beverly's at Starfleet Medical, and Data's dead. I'm sure Geordi and Worf have moved on to some other job together in some perverted non-canon slash fanfic. Only Picard remained on the Enterprise. It's sad, but the TNG franchise is over, as far as TV and film are concerned.

But if not all the lead actors, just select cast/characters from NG, DS9 and VOY were used in the NG era film, e.g.:

NG: Riker, Picard, LaForge(engineer)
DS9: Ben Sisko, Bashir(doctor)
VOY: Janeway, Chakotay, Seven of Nine
