What are you watching for the first-time?

Admiral Jean-Luc Picard

What are you watching for the first-time, or it's been so long, it feels that way?

TOS:
I'm revisiting the series after a very long time, first time on Blu-ray. Some episodes I remember, most I've completely forgotten how they go. When I get to the animated series, I saw the first few episodes, but as a series, it'll be a first watch. I've seen all 6 movies and remember how they go.
TNG: I've seen S1-3 a few times and the TNG films several times. S4-7, I think I've seen most of the episodes, but most, not for 20+ years. I'm watching S4 on Blu-ray, and I've found for most, it feels like a first watch. I love this series!
DS9 & VOY: These two, I'm very familiar with how they go. I've seen all episodes and love both shows.
ENT: I've recently watched S1-3 on Blu-ray and I'm now 6 episodes into S4. I haven't seen the final season since the show ended in 2005. It's fun to revisit these episodes after 20 years.
Reboot films: I remember these OK, but I would love to see them again when I find the time.
DIS & ST: I'm watching both shows for the 2nd time. 4 episodes into Disco S2, between seasons on the shorts. They're as good as I remember. I'm looking forward to S3 onward. On my first watch, I lost track of the show after 3-5, I think.
PIC: I've seen the entire series. Love S1 and S3. S2 is "WTF" territory but still fun to watch.
LD: Watching for the 2nd time, a few episodes in. S3-4 will be a first-time watch.
PRO: I'd only seen 10 episodes when P+ yanked it. I rewatched those on Netflix, then the rest of S1 and S2 were a first-time watch. I love this so much, the best of the 3 animated shows by far. After I finish LD, I will watch this again.
SNW: I am saving this for after I finish my Disco S2 re-watch. Looks great, looking forward to it!

Old Trek
I'm re-watching DS9. I re-watched every episode of TNG before PIC started. Then, eventually, I re-watched all of VOY. Now I'm on DS9. Some would probably say I saved the best of the three for last. ;)

When I get the Blu-Rays for TOS, I'll add that into the mix.

New Trek
I'm super looking forward to S31. I think I'll probably limit it to an in-depth one-post review, then leave it at that. It's the best compromise so anyone who wants to see my take can still read it, and I also don't end up getting into the thick of it with whatever is going to be argued about non-stop. It's the best of both worlds. Pun intended. I'm hoping for something that feels more like DSC Season 1 and PIC Season 1. This is probably the last chance I'll ever get to see anything else with that type of Star Trek. Someone else once called it "Rated R Trek". It's not the direction the rest of the franchise is going in.

Prodgy Season 2 is also on my list. After four months, I still haven't gotten around to it. Maybe during the Holidays.

Will TOS be a first watch or a rewatch? Prodigy S2, you won't be disappointed if you're a fan of PRO S1 and VOY.

I gave up on Trek, a while back. Just not much there to interest me anymore.

I've seen everything and I recently rewatched most of it, so Lower Decks is all I'm currently watching for the first time. I will be watching Section 31 as well, but that's a problem for another day.

66-79, some of the stuff between 80-05, and the Abrams films. And, if I'm honest, I would trade everything post-TOS for thirteen episodes of Star Trek II.
TOS, TAS, TMP, and... what did you like vs. not like from 1982-2005 and the reboot trilogy?
Star Trek II... meaning... The Wrath of Khan?

It just got repetitive. Plus, I preferred TOS action-adventure format compared to what came later. Abrams revived that for a short time.

Star Trek II.

Pre-TMP, Paramount was going to start a fourth network with Star Trek II as its flagship series. Sets were designed and built, scripts written. Then Star Wars happened and Trek was moved to the big screen. The pilot episode, "In Thy Image", became the basis of TMP. Two TNG episodes recycled scripts from the series. One was "Devil's Due", and for the life of me, I can't remember the second off the top of my head.

It is now known, to avoid confusion, as Star Trek: Phase II.

#1 Was TNG through ENT really not action-adventure enough?
#2 Phase II, I know what that is, just never heard it called Star Trek II. Thank you for explaining.
#3 I like the 3 Abrams movies, but what I didn't like was how they treated the Enterprise and how things regarding the Enterprise just make zero sense, especially in the 2nd film.

I believe it was "The Child", s02e01. Revamped for TNG because of the 1988 writer's strike.

Aside from that I would say that I like most of the Star Trek offerings but am primarily a TOS guy because that's what I grew up with. TAS, the TOS movies, TNG, DS9 are fine too. I'm a bit cold on Voyager and Enterprise, thought the Abrams flicks were pretty stupid, Discovery was a crashing bore, Lower Decks has been amusing, haven't seen Prodigy at all, Picard was mostly okay but I get why people wouldn't like it, and Strange New Worlds is definitely my favorite of the current stuff.

It's okay to pick and choose what you like and no one is required to enjoy all of it. There's a lot of material there and there's something for everyone.

Mad Men on Netflix.
I watched it as it was airing on AMC. It's my favorite show on television. Especially since it digs underneath the surface of the facade everyone's putting on and exposes all the cracks.

The only thing I don't like, and this isn't the show's fault, is that the real world has been making it feel like less and less of a period piece.

I don't know how deep you're in right now, but you're in for quite a ride.
