I thought the episode was pretty decent and nice set-up for how I think the season will go. (I suspect AOW will be over by the mid-season hiatus and the second half of the season will deal with the next "threat" or arc.)
Still not sure what to expect from the "flash forwards" if it's "real" or a dream/vision Rick is having. I, as said over the summer, doubt the show will go through with the old-age makeup on their lead character for the rest of the series or "hobble" him with the limp considering he's also the lead "action guy," (Though the age, time skip, and limp would all be consistent with the comic.)
Question for those more familiar with the comic:
Who was the guy at the gas station? Seems like he's a setup to "be someone."
Though it's all part of the "show" it is a bit frustrating that it seems manufactured for Negan to escape, it seems Rick had plenty of opportunity to kill Negan right there but instead.... they shoot out the windows to The Sanctuary?
I do wonder how The Scavengers/Heapsters will work back into things, will Jadis realize her error and side back with Rick? Or will they continue to fight on the side of Negan and be another foe for our heroes to deal with down the road? The woman who plays Jadis (who cleans up very well!) was credited for the episode (that she wasn't in) and was in the entire cast meet-up on The Talking Dead so she's got to be fully contracted to be credited in an episode she's not in so she and The Scavengers must play a big role moving forward.
Along with the firing the bullets at the building instead of The Saviors, it'd seem ammunition is no longer in short supply or a scarce resource. They must have found quite the cache of it!
Interesting speculation I've seen too, some notes on how "spirtual" Rick seemed in some of the apparent "flash forwards" to later in the war where he's looking over a grave, looks teary eyed, and whispers things about mercy. Could it be Father Gabriel dies and this reignites Rick's humanity and spirituality?
