Tuvok question

erotavlas

Lieutenant Junior Grade
Red Shirt
I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that Tuvok's voice sounded different than expected? At first when they introduced him as Tuvok, I just didn't believe it was actually him. (I mean was it him? I never bothered to check the cast info) Something about his voice sounded off. Of course he is older now, but generally voice tends to deepen as men age, I was just watching Voyager and his voice sounds deeper in that show. In Picard it had a different characteristic to it.

Tim Russ has had some health issues and that has impacted his voice. I believe it was mentioned in the Ready Room, though I could be wrong.

Yes, it was Tim Russ. Yes, his voice has changed somewhat. But not so much that many of us didn't recognize his voice even before we saw him.

I didn't know that Tim Russ`original voice sounded off, too. I looked it up - the took Christian Toberentz, the same voice actor like they used for Tuvok in the show - and he sounded off, too !!!!

James Earl Jones’ voice as Darth Vader sounded off on Rebels. It’s what happens with age. That’s why he retired as Vader’s voice and let Disney use his AI assisted voice.

In that case, I think Filoni said they processed the voice in a similar manner used in ANH as opposed to the other movies. And it's true, Vader's voice wasn't as deep sounding in ANH as it was in the other movies, and Rebels does sound more in-with ANH.

His voice sounded the same as Russ' in Poker Face. Maybe his voice has changed with age. It could also be that with the passing of time, Russ has fallen out of practice creating the Tuvok character, including how he speaks.

He also doesn’t sound like the dude who combed the desert.
