TOS Movie security uniforms

Anyone else hated the security uniforms that were worn in the TOS movie era?

The designs weren't my favourite ever but I did like the fact security got to wear some kind of protection.

Are you kidding me?!? They look retarded, its looks like someone take a 1900s football helmet and just added the starfleet logo to it. The armor looks like nothing more then leather and fabric.

Yeah, they were kinda silly. I mean football helmets??? Hard to take serious with that get up... The only protection they provide is getting laid! lol

The security armor was apparently phased out sometime after the time of The Undiscovered Country, which marked the last time they appeared on screen.

What was worse, was the "Corrections Officer" uniform with the goofy Trucker hats and the powder blue turtleneck sweaters!

If you ask me, they should of put me in charge of creating the security uniforms. I would made them look bad ass .

^^^ So the uniforms should be designed to look badass, because that's important. The helmets, the armor, the necessary protection... that's retarded. I see where you're coming from.

In any case, I liked the security uniforms a lot. After all the years of redshirt deaths, they finally DO something about it. And people still not satisfied.

Of course with most of TOS movie good ideas... what happened to them? The crew got seatbelts/restraints on the bridge, the engineers got hazard gear, the security got armor protection, all good ideas.
When TNG came along... what happened?

Well that's largely to do with the formation of the guild of Redshirts. After growing numbers they engaged in several protests in the year 2271 demanding a uniform change giving them more protection and also giving every other officer a Redshirt. The officer's uniform change didn't happen until the year 2279
