OK fun thread here.

Theme tunes from TV shows or movies, that you like or even love.... Since I'm following the Netflix reboot of Lost In Space here's the theme tune from the original series by John Williams, yes the same John Williams who has done a metric ton of movies and other related things.

Might need to start a separate thread if I go on an anime kick. So many theme songs I love. They also have the advantage? Advantage that they have three minutes in total of opening and closing credits to fill, so you can get a good 90-second chunk of j-pop or j-rock in there, as opposed to modern Western TV shows, which have been so pared down by adverts that they're lucky if they get 10 seconds to make a musical statement.

Keeping it Western though... Another Johnny Williams tune...

Help me! I can't stop!

Themes I love are
High Chaparral
Black Beauty
Magnificent Seven(movie)
Simon & Simon
Cagney & Lacey.......

Simon & Simon had a very catchy tune-- the second version, not the first.

My other favorites:
Magnum, PI
The A- Team ( my ringtone)
Most versions of Doctor Who
Stargate:SG1
Bonanza
Big Valley
Dick Van Dyke Show
Game of Thrones
St Elsewhere
Cheers
Hill Street Blues
Friends
Original BSG

The short-lived Gypsy on Netflix had a slow-tempo version of Fleetwood Mac's Gypsy that was awesome:

Quite a different tone and feel to the original version of the song which was fast-paced.

Actual singles I owned on 45's back in the 70's:

Greatest American Hero
Grizzly Adams
Happy Days
Laverne & Shirley
Makin' It (the song lasted longer than the series)
Welcome Back (Kotter)

I love the theme to Twin Peaks:

And a stellar creepy theme: Mindhunter

I LOVE the Perfect Strangers theme. A staple of my childhood.

It's my life, my dream. Nothing's gonna stop me now

Farscape - season 3 and 4

Orphan Black

Star Trek: Voyager

New Battlestar Galactica

Babylon 5 - I like all the versions but season 1 and 2 were the iconic ones

Frasier

Step by Step - the old sitcom from the mid 90s

I wish theme songs made a comeback on network TV. Streaming and premium shows are starting to bring it back. Game of Thrones is becoming pretty iconic .

The SMDM opening is the perfect blend of music and visual.

I like both seasons' themes of Space: 1999 but most prefer Season 1. Nothing beats the epicness of the first few bars.

Yeah, for awhile the trend was to just have a short title screen before fading to the episode. I'm glad it's coming back too, because I feel they help differentiate a show and keep it in people's minds, especially if it's a catchy tune.

All the classics, Hawaii Five-O, Hill Street Blues, The Rockford Files, but here is a favorite that I don't see mentioned too often:

(Sorry you have to get past a 25 second intro before the music, but it's the best recording I could find).
