The Star Trek Into Darkness teaser trailer is here!

What is all this Garth bashing, the character was awesome.

I can't speak for anybody else but I certainly liked him. He was cheesy and over the top at times, but so was Shatner. And far more frequently. ;)

Garth helped establish some important backstory for the Federation we didn't get before: the Battle of Axanar around 2250 that helped keep the Federation together (we never learned why it happened or the details surrounding the battle) and ensured that humans and Vulcans would be able to continue to serve together "as brothers."

There was one thing from the first movie that never got answered; why was the bulk of Starfleet mobilising at the Laurentian system? If Starfleet is engaged in some military conflict during this time frame could the Battle of Axanar have happened between this film and the last? Could the "war-zone world" described in the synopsis possibly be Axanar itself?

Excellent. :techman: The ultimate one-two punch. No sooner are they back on Terra Firma when it's detonating again!

Here is a subject that nobody has brought up.

How does Kirk and McCoy survive the jump off the cliff on the red vegetated planet? The ocean is way below them and they don't even hesitate when they take the plunge.
They don't survive it. The movie ends there on a freeze frame of them falling, Thelma & Louise style.

Vulcan was destroyed and Starfleet was attacked by a giant superweapon. Who knows how those events might impact a person's life choices?
Starfleet also seems to be a lot more militaristic. Maybe after Nero destroyed the Kelvin, Starfleet assumed that the Romulans were behind it and they're in a cold war type scenario. Kirk even mentions that if Nero surrendered it could lead to peace with the Romulans. Maybe in that type of environment, she joined Starfleet.

I'll be watching Who God Destroy tonight for sure but I feel like this character, altough I find all the correllation to be spot on, would be a little bit to ''underground'' to base a plot on. Imagine the first ''brainstorm'' of the creative team:
- Well we came up with this wonderfull vilain from a little to not known season 1 episode...
Whom Gods Destroy is a season 3 ep. :)

Is it itime for a caption contest?

Kirk:
"Of my friend, I can only say this: of all the souls I have encountered in my travels... his was the most... human."

I am 85% convinced that this is for Captain Pike,Also notice the planes that fly across them at the end. that tribute is only reserved for admirals, presidents, governors and senators.

Spock at least NU-Spock is not up there yet.

it is definitely Pike that Kirk is paying tribute too.
Nope it's used for all types of people.

KIRK: If there's anything Christopher Pike taught me in the years I knew him, it was the following:

Don't get in pointless bar fights....always strive to lead an exceptional life you can be proud of....and never, ever put baseball cards in the spokes of a wheelchair.

There are a lot of comments about the trailer not feeling Star Trekish and I realized what it is: that trailer feels Star Warsy. Consider those city flyby and fight shots and they're straight out of the newer three SW movies.

And mainly, sorry, but those actors are WAY too young. You don't get to be captain of much more than a jet ski at that age.

Chris Pine is only two years younger now than William Shatner was when he filmed "Where No Man Has Gone Before."

Chris Pine is only like 3 or 4 years younger than Shatner was when he was cast in TOS...................
and the rest of the cast is pretty close to their counter parts ages. Actors are just in better shape and have better nutrition now so they look younger.
EDIT scooped lol

I didn't feel any Star Wars. I did, however, get some Michael Bay vibes during the scene where buildings were blowing up and people were staring at them.

Well yeah.... (my bad!!!!) But you got the idea.

My friend was drunk and trying to explain to me how she's going to get tickets to the Hobbit. It didn't really make sense. So I figured this was the perfect time to show her the new Star Trek trailer. Her response followed thusly:

I don't get it
what is this movie about
who is this vengence guy
wtf
