Disney just released a teaser for the new live action remake of The Lion King coming in 2019. Looks epic! The scene with all the animals bowing to the new lion king gave me chills. WOW!
Yeah, this, too. He was by far the best part of the original film and I'm thrilled he's returning.Hearing James Earl Jones as Mufasa gave me chills! So excited for this!
Looks spectacular.
I certainly look forward to reading about and seeing "How They Did It," with attention to how much and what is synthesized vs how much and what is sampled. It looks like a combination of real (trained) animals and animated animals both. Maybe they used the whole bag of tricks.
It's said that Beyonce has new songs for this while the best song, "Be Prepared" has been cut.Ok, that looks amazing! I like the look of the cinematography. It looks like they copied the scenes from the animated movie, but taking advantage of the natural landscape. Looks absolutely beautiful. Seeing Elton John in the credits made me wonder if they're using the original music recorded for the animated movie and maybe add a few songs as well.
The author saysFrom what I understand, there's no real animals at all.
The author says
it doesn’t take a scholar to look at the trailer and realize that there are no live-action performances onscreen.
With the rhetorical device "it doesn't take a scholar" that's not a neutral assertion of journalistic fact. And the author clearly has an ax to grind. These aren't reasons to doubt what the author is saying, but I think we'll be able to do much better in terms of finding out what's what.
Should be good. Looking forward to last summer.
The trailer did look really good, but like others I'm not sure in the "point" of watching a CGI remake of a classic cartoon, one of my favorites of the Disney animated films.

They all looked CGI to me. I just can't really see them using any real animals for something like this. With something this complex it's got to be a lot to just use CGI animals that can always do exactly what you want. The author says

I'm pretty sure they'll probably make some changes, they have in all of the other remakes. According to Wikipedia there is going to be at least one new song with Beyonce and Elton John.Uhm.. why should i rewatch a shot for shot remake of a classic animation movie? Just because CGI has progressed to the point of being able to do realistic animals?
Thank you.. i'll stick to the original in this case.
I was thinking that some of the "kneeling" zebras might have been real, but, if not, it's a testament to the animators, and either way it's a testament to the filmmakers. They all looked CGI to me.
