The Global Football Thread

Meanwhile, Julian Nagelsmann, head coach of Bayern Munich, has been tested positive for Covid. He's acting from his kitchen at the moment.

And Joshua Kimmich has to explain himself why he is still unvaccinated.

Moenchengladbach vs Bayern, DFB-Pokal. Currently 3:0. Bayern is going to be the new Manchester United today.... All the talk of unvaccinated players and Hernandéz going to prison or not was obviously too distracting.

Back to the game one might think.

A-League footballer Josh Cavallo comes out. Good on him, and thankfully the reaction has been overwhelmingly positive - as it should be.

Ole simply isn't good enough.
Yep. Loved Ole as a player, but he's not cutting it as a manager. The club continues to go nowhere fast, but as long as the arsehole owners keep raking in the billions - which is all they care about - nothing will change.

At least Manchester won against Tottenham. I don't know if this is enough to save the head coach.

Meanwhile there is a two month break in the Bundesliga next year due to WC in Qatar. Giving it to Qatar was a big mistake in the first place. Heat and disregard of human rights. Money rules obviously.

Reports of Mason resuming interim duties seem to have been somewhat premature, as Tottenham have instead hired Antonio Conte to take over as their manager on a 1.5 year contract. He'll officially be announced Tuesday.

As a Spurs fan, I am buzzing. I haven't been this excited about the club since the Miracle at Amsterdam. :D

As a Gunner, i have nothing but spite for your team. :nyah:

Any USL Fans? Birmingham Legion has it's first ever home playoff game on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. I live two blocks from the stadium so it's always a fun trip.

One of Italy or Portugal won't be going to the World Cup...

I expect Portugal and Ronaldo will be the one to miss out.

Two Ukrain football players have been killed in the attacks along with an Ukrain former Biathlete. It's a crying shame.

My team Nottingham Forest having been 24th & bottom of the EFL Championship with 1 point after the first 7 games of the season are now 3rd place with 76 points after 43 games.

Our playoff spot is secured but now we're just 3 points (equal goal difference) behind 2nd place and Automatic promotion. We play 2nd place AFC Bournemouth next Tuesday in what could be a season deciding game. If we win our final 3 games of the season then we will be assured of ending our 23 year exile from the Premier League.

It's so close I can taste it.

Hope you guys pull it off!

Honestly I'm a little disappointed Fulham are coming back up. I mean, it's good for them and their fans, but I'm a little bored of teams like them and Norwich who are too good for the Championship but not good enough to stick in the Premier League.

Sadly injuries might make it a challenge too far and scupper us in the playoffs too.

Kenan Davis (FW) - Out for regular season and doubt for Playoffs.

Lewis Grabban (FW) - Out for season & Playoffs.

Max Lowe (LB/LWB) - Doubtful for rest of season and playoffs.

We also have Injury doubts to our last remaining Striker "Sam Surridge" + Jack Colback and Philip Zinckernagel for this weekend's game.

:sigh:

5-1 win at home to Swansea and next up is AFC Bournemouth. Tomorrow is the biggest game in 11 years :techman:

Of course we fucked it up 0-1 to AFC Bournemouth. Shocking 2nd half display up there with the failures of 2003, 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2020 when we also forgot how to do anything basic like passing. In the 1st half when we played football, we did hit the bar and had a clear penalty ruled off for offside despite replays showing the player was ONSIDE by a fair margin...

The officials apologised to us after the game but that's not good enough. £150 million fuck up there ref - these types of calls happen to often in the EFL. So many refs need sacking but the FA and EFL are weak and cowardly.

Playoffs await as does the reminder of our Playoff record...

8 Legs Played
1 Leg Win
2 Leg Draws
5 Leg Defeats
0 Overall Ties Won

2003
Forest 1-1 Sheffield Utd
Sheffield 4-3 Forest (5-4 on Aggerate after Extra Time)

2007
Yeovil 0-2 Forest
Forest 2-5 Yeovil (5-4 on Aggerate after Extra Time)

2010
Blackpool 2-1 Forest
Forest 3-4 Blackpool (6-4 on Aggerate)

2011
Forest 0-0 Swansea
Swansea 2-1 Forest (2-1 on Aggerate)

Then in 2020 we only need 4 points from 6 games to secure our Playoff spot and did this...

Derby and Barnsley goals were last minute. Letting Stoke score 4 past us (3 in second half) saw us tumble out of the playoffs on goal difference.

Rant over - But it's really the hope that destroys your soul.
