The Doomsday Machine inspired Fan Films.

Fleet Captain
In Memoriam
I know of no other single Star Trek episode that seems to have inspired as much activity in the Fan Film community as The Doomsday Machine. I know of two re-edits with new special effects, and Six fan films based on it, one of which is a multi-part animation which had its first part released today.

What I'd like is for guidance to any other Star Trek Fan Films based on this episode I may have missed.

Another fan remakes the special effects with 21st Century CGI:

Fan Films Inspired by The Doomsday Machine: (Names link to their pages as Star Trek Reviewed websites)
http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/20.html Star Trek Phase II's Episode 1, "In Harm's Way." Stars William Windom, just one of many elements making this the best of the fan films based on this episode.

http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/26.html Tales of the Seventh Fleet Episode 1, "Return to Doomsday."

http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/81.html Star Trek New Homelands Episode 1 Season 1, Doomsday Comes Round at Last

http://startrekreviewed-goanimate.blogspot.com/2011/10/rotv.html RoTV's animated remake, Star Trek: The Doomsday Machines.

http://startrekreviewed-goanimate.blogspot.com/2011/11/brunoserious.html BrunoSerious's animated remake, "The Doomday Machine" (not complete as of April 22, 2012)

In the comedy area, Trailer Trek is also inspired by The Doomsday Machine, vis: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/180.html

Yet, I feel like I'm missing something... or many more of these...

Thank you for mentioning Tales of the Seventh Fleet and Return to Doomsday. Looking back, it was a lot of fun to make. We filmed most of it in a single car garage in the middle of winter. Which was a good thing, the heat from the lights balanced out the cold from outside.

It is part of a major trend in fan films. And I think one of the better Doomsday inspired ones, too.

Dan, this is why it's worth making these types of posts, you just enlightened me. I have made some great finds, but also missed some amazing stuff. This gets an immediate inclusion in THREE locations at Star Trek Reviewed, thanks so much!

The primary location is Here: http://startrekreviewed.blogspot.com/2009/06/49.html

I will be writing to the film poster to see if I can get permission to use pictures and screenshots.

It will also be referenced here: http://startrekreviewed-tvandmovies.blogspot.com/2012/01/2.html

Third, it will go under a section where I hold "to be used later" additions which have never been given headlines because they were released long BEFORE [correct from "after"] I found them. I will then give it a Headline on a week when there are no new releases over 10 minutes long which tell a whole story. I currently have a significant backlog of these, so it may be a long time before that happens.

Finally, let me remind anyone who knows about a Star Trek Fan Film they didn't see at Star Trek Reviewed of the STR motto:

If you know of any Star Trek Fan Film I have not included, please let me know. I did not intend to leave it, or them, out. For guidance, know that porn is not a fan film, and film with people talking about Trek are not fan films for purposes of Star Trek Reviewed.

STR is different than any other listing of Star Trek Fan Films precisely because I take the position it is NEVER complete. I live with complete confidence that I have missed films, in fact, many films. Thanks for your help as I try to find them!

Your betafive.com link is the same work as the one KT linked. You already had it.

The CBS remastering? Hardly a "fan film."

Ah ha! Thanks, boobatube! I'll label that correctly now! I don't have those DVDs! But CBS has these episodes posted on line so anyone can watch them (with commercials) on the net. One more thing waiting to be done at STR, is to link to EACH of the CBS postings separately, although I already have a general link to the part of the website which has ALL of TOS available for online viewing.

Here is my TOS overview blog, with links to the more specific years: http://startrekreviewed-tvandmovies.blogspot.com/2012/01/star-trek-tos.html

And again, here is the Year 2 information (very incomplete, still needs A LOT of work.) http://startrekreviewed-tvandmovies.blogspot.com/2012/01/2.html

This section of Star Trek Reviewed is the least developed, since there are literally hundreds of Star Trek websites devoted to Pro Trek. All help is appreciated!
