The Chase & The Space Museum DVDs: March 1st

That scene? What scene?

The Beatles in The Chase. For years it looked as though that scene would have to edited out (the audio version of Evil of the Daleks had to have a Beatles track cut out) but I believe the rights were cleared a couple of years ago now.

I'm excited for this to come out as I have never seen The Space Museum. It will be new classic who for me. Only 45 years late (well technically it's 34 as I wasn't around when it first aired).

My video tape has the Beatles part intact.

That came out in 1993. The whole Beatles issue was a bit hazy for a long time, which is why the OP posed the question - the weird thing about the VHS release was that Remembrance of the Daleks, the VHS originally released alongside The Chase in the same tin, replaced an original Beatles track with a cover version, even though The Chase was unedited.

Similarly, Evil of the Daleks' audio release had the music changed, and that was released (or re-released, if you count an earlier version) in 2003.

Fortunately all the problems seem to be a thing of the past now.

I think it might have also been easier with The Chase because the clip of the Beatles happened to be from a BBC program, as oppose to Evil of the Daleks and Remembrance of the Daleks which used recordings only. (And other occasions such as the Fleetwood Mac song that had to be replaced on one of the early Pertwees).

Mind you, William Russell has endured some 45 years' worth of ribbing for his "dancing prowess" in that scene, so he'd probably be just as happy to have the whole scene cut! :p

Bought the box set today, just finished watching The Chase and found it quite enjoyable! Also, does anyone else think that Vicki is gorgeous?

Just to warn any Region Oners: Steve Roberts at Gallifrey Base has said that the R1 release will have the Beatles clip edited out :(
