The Buried Age (Spoilers!)

Before I begin, if you missed it in the topic line, there are spoilers in my message (don't want to mess anything up for anyone)!

Since I have not seen any topics regarding The Buried Age other than if it is available I wanted to elicit other's opinions about the book. I recently finished it, after looking forward to it for quite some time, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Essentially it exceeded all of my expectations and covered quite a bit of information that I have been interested in for a while. I especially enjoyed the exploration of the relationship with Guinan. I have always wanted to know more about her background, and while I would still like more info about her and her people, I enjoyed what was presented in the book. I also thought that the touch with Q at the end was an excellent way to cap off the story.
Overall, from the beginning with the story of the end of the Stargazer to the ending leading us right up to TNG, I found the book to be thoroughly enjoyable.
I look forward to other's thoughts!

I'd have to agree with you on pretty much all counts.

It was one of the best Trek books I've read. What made it even more enjoyable was that it covered a significant time period, if not in Trek history, then at least in Picard's history.

By the way, here's a link to the topic I had started a while back about The Buried Age, if you're interested.

Thank you! :)

I'm reading it now. It's been awhile since I've read a Trek book that can....um, soak you up in its dense-ness, if that makes any sense. :p. Also, I'm not a huge fan of "hard" sci-fi, but I think it's unique that "The Buried Age" has some of those elements to it. I'm only on chapter 3 but I'm noticing it, and I think it's pretty cool. :)

Is the section about Q forshadowing events in Q & A?

There are four sentences in that section that do foreshadow that. The rest merely sets up "Farpoint."

^ The thread is called "The Buried Age (Spoilers!)". That means it will contain spoilers. Putting spoilers in spoiler text in a spoiler thread is utterly redundant. If you don't want to be spoiled, don't click on spoiler threads.

^ And evil gets the best lines, which is the really important part....

^Yes, it does.

On the main note, not the side note, finally got a copy of the book. It's next up on my list after I finish Summon the Thunder (Yeah, I'm behind on Vanguard. Trying to catch up.).

I bought The Buried Age yesterday (Sunday) and I'm already on page 289. AND I've been at work all day. That should tell you how enjoyable of a read I think it is.

I also bought the first two Vanguard books. I guess I'll be getting to the first one tomorrow at the rate I'm going with this one. Sometimes I think I'm working just to support my Trek novel habit

I just finished. Interesting why Q took an interest in Picard over other Starfleet officers.

Christopher and I coordinated on that scene.
Is this the only other book that you deal with in Q&A?
