Thai Cave Rescue

They are saying that the 12th boy is in the cave entrance and the coach is in the third chamber.

The 11th boy out was the smallest boy.

What admirable little souls they are. They are survivors and I feel sense of relief and hope and kind of like crying. Their families, I can't imagine.

Soon after he emerged from the cave Dr Richard Harris had to be told that his father had died. Dr Harris had been in the cave for several days looking after the boys and it was he who gave each boy a light sedative to control their anxiety before each of them were rescued..

Respect and congratulations for the outstanding work of the brave, heroic and professional rescuers and deepest condolences to Dr Harris and the family of Suman Gunan.

This was a tragedy which could have been so much worse and it's a genuine tribute to the best in humanity that these boys were rescued by such amazing people

A pump went down, almost directly after everyone made it out, & flooded things so much worse that evacuation teams that were collecting gear were forced to leave much of it behind. Despite the unfortunate loss of a person's life, this is undoubtedly a VERY lucky outcome in the narrowest of margins. This could've gone wrong any number of ways, & we'd be in here talking about dead children. I see this as a huge win, & a monumentally brave & harrowing undertaking

Elon Musk's twitter reaction to the Brit diver rejecting his idea of using a mini sub.

What angers me is how Musk fanboys are saying defending what Musk said. They insist that Musk must have evidence on the guy and some of them are saying that they can find no info on Unsworth (doesn’t have a wife, or work history) therefore he is suspicious. It took me 5 minutes of research to find out that Unsworth is a financial broker, that he is well known in the caving community and is mentioned in some caving books. Also to find out we’re he works, his position and how long he has been working there (12.5 years).

However Unsworth is a Not a diver. In early interviews he is named as a cave expert and he is credited with mapping the cave. He even said he had planndd to go into the cave on the 24 June before returning to England. So it looks like he spends the dry season in Thailand exploring caves but does not dive in them.

However it was he who informed the Thai authorities that they should contact the British diver. He also told the divers where he thought the boys would be if 5hey were alive. They were very close to where he said they would be.

As far as the boys go - they tried to dig themselves out. Using only rocks as tools they managed to dig over 5 meters. Also there was not enough room on the ledge for them all to sit at once so they had to take turns at standing.

I think Vernon Unsworth was a bit annoyed because Elon Musk had criticised the head of the rescue mission, Narongsak Osottanakorn, when Osottanakorn said that Musk’s submarine was not practical. It was only after Musk’s made a tweet about Osottanakorn that Unsworth made his comment. Unsworth Should have worded it more politely.
