Creative double-featuring for Election Day (films and TV-films only, no series)

Every Tuesday I walk down the street (all right, a street) and I bring over two feature films or classic TV movies for my significant other. This is our 70th week or so, always on Tuesday.

As election day is also this Tuesday, I looked over the bin of upcoming flicks and wondered which two would be best for election day. I chose THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE and CRIMSON TIDE. I always run the more exciting film second.

I found these two movies appropriate for different reasons. In BRODIE, one younger character secretly undermines her former mentor, and on her way out the mentor questions the methods her protege used. In TIDE, the entire second half is a musical chairs military takeover attempts of a nuclear sub, in which, miraculously, nobody dies during the takeovers. So you could say there's some hidden political elements in both.

So which two films or TV films might you select for a 2024 double-feature? They may be eclectic, or blatant, and they can be silly or serious. But (mind this rule) we need two. Not one or three. Choosing a sequel or reboot of the first film is acceptable (watching both versions of FAIL-SAFE or THE MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE for example).

I await your twos with water on the back of the neck, to say nothing of other precious bodily fluids....:borg:
