Starship FARRAGUT: The CROSSING

I watched The crossing and I really liked it having Mirror universe characters in it . The story was good and well acted. Well done I've always enjoyed watching the Farragut Fanfilms.:bolian:

I particularly enjoyed the story, editing and effects. Very nice job.

There were a couple of things that confused me. One was that I didn't get a good feel of who the characters were or their roles but I probably should watch it again, or some of the prior episodes. (I did see "For want of a Nail"). I also wasn't sure what the deal was with the crazy eyes guy who was the "hero" character. I wasn't sure if he was an alien, android, a spy from the Mirror Universe having trouble adjusting to the "normal" universe, or had a head injury of some kind. I thought there was something off about him, but nothing really came of it. Otherwise, I was totally engaged in the story. Great job.

It's not for me. Exeter TTI has spoiled me on how TOS fan films should look like. Even the music was something I could imagine from the TOS universe. Maybe fogging the sets, for The Crossing, a bit could give the scenes some atmosphere, but for what it is, it's what it is. There's something else I found odd were the editing; there were snippets of the Commander and the his BFF were seen in numerous transitions through out scenes. I don't know if it was a director's choice for some sort of subliminal messaging or a editing program flub?

If you're referring to those sepia toned bits, they are flashback to previous episodes. Some of it is rather impenetrable if you've not seen the early episode they reference ("For Want of A Nail") or other segments with these characters.

I saw the episode last night.
I enjoyed watching the episode and I really liked the music.
When Commander Prescott (Paul Sieber) came on board I thought 'familiar face'. He played Prescott and other characters in New Voyages/Phase II and after checking the IMDb, he also played in the Farragut episode 'For want of a Nail'.

At the end I didn't aspect that Michelle would stay on board the Farragut. I thought that she'd request a transfer to be with Robert. Maybe I missed something...

I liked it, The only glitch I noticed was at 25:03 right after the MU guys beam out we see the confrere room scene for half a second, a simple enough mistake, with editing software.
My only question is why are the assignment patches on the right side of the uniform for a few of the Potemkin crew?

No. Yjagg mentioned the transition I was referring to and I think it's an editing program flub by 25:03 minute marker of the piece.

^^^That's not what you said, though. You stated " there were snippets of the Commander and the his BFF were seen in numerous transitions through out scenes." One glitch is hardly "numerous".

it is flub if you are not familiar with editing software the pieces of video ( and audio) are stacked in layers if there is a space between sections and another video in another overlaps it it can sneak through the seams...

I thought I saw more, and wasn't invested enough to re-watch the program again. I'm not contesting Yjagg's observation or yours, if it was just one. It's one, but it's not for me.

That's why when you render the show out you WATCH IT several times for such glitches before making it public. We learned this the hard way on TTI after Scott rendered out the full show and made it go live it was discovered that the audio levels on Act One were lower than the rest of the show. Arrrgh!

Maurice, to be fair, and possibly allay some of your self-recriminations, more than 75% of what we get in at our network has audio levels ALLLLLL over the place.

Ouch ...Actually sir, after producing a few videos for our company's website/ tradeshow booth my suggestion would be have a couple of OTHER PEOPLE watch it with you, I found I got so desensitized and a little tired of watching it, that small things slipped by me. And fall out can be worse when the video is running in the booth and your GM sees a glitch that you could of prevented :D.
