The ending was a bit of a stretch to me. Let's just completely destroy the collector without any real evidence, and because Uhura believes completely that we are killing deuterium aliens. If instead they had disabled it or even partial destroying it, it would have sat better with me.
On a side note...
It's interesting that the first officer of the Farragut is missing so long from the Farragut during that episode with all that was going on. I guess their Captain give Kirk a lot of leeway, or maybe he mentioned he was on leave and I missed that.
I'm beginning to get used to Wesley (even though he still looks like Jim Carey to me), and really like his rendition of Kirk. I actually prefer this version of the character over Chris Pine's. Much more complex and by far more capable. Maybe not having the shackles and responsibility of a Captain lets Kirk be more Kirk-like.
I'm wondering if they should just have a spin-off show about the Farragut and Jim Kirk as the first officer.

It was mentioned that he wasn't FO yet.
It'll never happen but now my dream is that when SNW wraps up we move right to a post-TMP pre-TWOK show with Wesley, Peck, and Gooding.
Why between TMO/TWOK?
I mean, if we're doing that, might as well do more TOS, no? I mean you have most of the making already there already there. Character development shouldn't be an issue as episodic TOS didn't really carry much across episodes.
Nah - many people would be mad if they stepped into TOS. Post TMP allows the existing characters more freedom to grow, since the supporting characters were broadly blank slates in the movies. Plus they are obviously already digging the modern spin they could give to the TMP uniforms.

Wesley is older than Chris Hemsworth for those of us who've wondered what a cameo by Hemsworth as an older Prime George Kirk would be like. 
Chapel's and Culber's uniforms are just more stylised variations on the TMP onesies.

Yes but I think the point is that Kirk was 34 in season 2, and thus 40ish in TMP. If Kirk is 28, I guess he must be just a few years older than Chapel? So she would be late thirties.
Yep, Kirk is 40 years old in TMP. He was born in 2233 and TMP is 2273.

There is 6 years between TMP and the first appearance of the Maroons (Bozeman Crew), enough time for a unseen uniform for a series. Just hang a lampshade on how much everyone hated the TMP uniforms.
