OK! So yes was caught off guard after my review here a couple of months ago. I watched a glossy, fun, action-oriented movie that to me was on par or better than other such recent movies of such type regardless of genre but certainly better than most recent scifi films.

I'm still of the mind the pre-generated anti-hype of the movie had a lot to do with the general view of this TV movie, and there's really no going against that tide. It gave impetus to people with all of contemporary trek's recent successes to finally say: this one had no cachet! We're free to hate this one! Engage bandwagon jumping.

Whatever the outcome, I stated Paramount would be most interested on how it performs on its platform, and my quick research suggests it did well on P+ and even managed a brief spot on the Neilson top 10. The disc versions also sold well in pre-ordering. So I think TV movies are still on the table for the future, though Sec31, will not be.

PS Yes, I'd watch a TV series that fleshed out these characters. Though Sec31 was an unannounced pilot, I don't think they'll go forward.

i am replying to this thread very late. but whatever. I normally try to be positive about Star Trek. I loved Discovery, for the most part, love SNW, LD. Not crazy about Picard.
Section 31 sucked. I am not even sure how much it sucked. I could not get through the first 15 minutes. It was that bad. I'm not sure I have ever been this disappointed in an episode of Star Trek. 1 out 10.

Not to mention that he’s still wrong. The Section 31 movie wasn’t an ‘unannounced pilot.’ It was the result of deciding not to make a show.
True, but he didn't listen to anyone who tried to explain that to him last time. I'm not going to tilt at that particular windmill this time.

Hey, as bad as the characters were in Section 31, without spoiling too much (VERY minor Andor S2 premiere spoilers but still tagging)
they are still more reliable than the group of morons on Yavin who showed up in the Season 2 premiere of Andor calling themselves Rebels. Everyone owes this Section 31 team an apology if they bashed them, after watching the S2 premiere of Andor.

The difference of course is that those characters in Andor are intentionally inept morons while the team in the Section 31 movie were not.
I'd argue the S31 characters were indeed intended to be written as morons and supposed to be said to "grow" from that when they improbably end the movie victorious. At least that's the reasoning I get when asking from Gunn fans (including on this very forum I recall) about the terribly written Guardians of the Galaxy characters (this sort of thing became a trend around that time)

A very poorly disciplined guerilla unit vs inept cartoon "spies", choose your poison wisely.
:p

Are you sure about that? This is Voyager's bottom 12 according to IMDb voters:

Elogium
Tattoo
Threshold
Sacred Ground
Darkling
Favorite Son
Unforgettable
Once Upon a Time
The Fight
Fair Haven
Spirit Folk
Fury

Can anyone honestly say that The Fight is better than Section 31? Or Unforgettable? (Personally I'm rating Spirit Folk and Once Upon a Time above it.)

"The Fight" belongs in the Bottom 12 for sure. "Darkling" had a creepy hologram malfunction vibe that would make me rank it higher than the rest listed.
