Wher
The relay station itself seemed quite well armed and may have decent shielding. Help is a long way off, so it's not illogical to give it reasonable means to defend itself against moderately powerful starships.

I don't think the Diviner would delete something so basic, when holo-Janeway was easily programmable to work for him instead of Starfleet. Gwyn managed to prevent this in "a moral star", but it was clearly his intention. So why cripple her basis functions?

where was the relay station even located?

If I had to guess it's somewhere near the Alpha-Beta Quadrant line but closer to the geographic center of the galaxy,

Does anybody have a clue where that planet is located? Certainly it cannot be so close to earth can it?
Denaxi Depot is on the other side of then-Romulan-claimed space from Sol system. There's a few anti-spinward tendrils of Romulan holdings that reach away from the Neutral Zone-as-was and Denaxi is certainly further anti-spinward of those...

Beyond those generalities, your guesses are as good as mine.

That was a strong episode. Yes, it’s frustrating that the kids didn’t just come clean with the Dauntless landing party, but anyone who’s been around somewhat nervous kids knows this isn’t that unrealistic. I also think overhearing the relay station officer guy lie about things caused even more hesitation to come clean.

I thought Okona’s return was cool, but not necessarily significant. If he’s to become a part of the ongoing story, that could be interesting. I definitely like how things are progressing in the ongoing story, though. It’s well written and well-paced. There isn’t a character I don’t like.
8/10

Ok.. I have it all figured out. What they need to do is have halo-Janeway record a halo-message and then one of the kids jump out into space (with a suit, of course) and let the Dauntless pick him/her up while they are in persuit. They they can explain what is going on and have halo-Janeway back up the story. Brilliant! You're welcome! :D:ouch:
too dangerous: anything technological produced by the Protostar might carry the virus.

If you don't want to go the Morse code route, just have them scratch a message on a piece of metal, irradiate it, and eject it. That would attract the Dauntless's attention and they'd pick it up to see what it was.
that’s more like it!

Voyager’s QS drive definitely moved at the speed of the plot, from memory there was only a few seconds of difference in the amount of time they spent in the slipstream in the original timeline where they crashed, and the altered timeline where Harry’s calculations saved them. Yet that appeared to make all the difference between being on the edge of the Alpha Quadrant and still being at least 20,000 light years deep in the Delta Quadrant (going by the later jump in Dark Frontier).

Technically the TOS Enterprise must have had a superior warp drive to Voyager’s given how it was able to zip around the galaxy. Again, speed of the plot.

If we go by the dialogue from 'Timeless', the phase variance appeared 17 seconds into the flight.
That means that if we go by what happened the first time around, present day Harry sent the phase corrections which stabilized VOY for about 5 to 10 seconds, then phase variance started increasing and the ship was eventually fircefully knocked out of Slipstream (with an overload in the quantum matrix) roughly 2 minutes into the flight.
When future Harry sent the phase corrections which dispersed the Slipstream, the ship remained at flight shortly before it was safely pushed out of it.

So, there ARE discrepancies in how long each version of the flight lasted in the episode itself The original flight which destroyed VOY resulted in the ship being pushed about 15 000 - 20 000 Ly's to the edge of the AQ and lasted roughly 2 mins (it couldn't have been longer than that because we were told phase variance appears 17 seconds into the flight), whereas the altered flight had to be shorter. Based off what we witnessed and the dialogue, I estimated the speed of V2 Quantum Slipstream (from Timeliness) topped out at about 10 000 Ly's per minute.

Contrast this to when the crew first encountered Arturis and the fake Dauntless, it was mentioned that the ship could traverse 300 Ly's in 1 hour (which at the time was maximum speed - for sustained long term flight, the crew would had to have spent about 3 months in transit onboard the Dauntless to reach Earth if the fake message estimates were accurate - this suggests that even the fake Dauntless probably couldn't maintain maximum speed of 300 LY's per hour for more than 12-24 hrs).

As for TOS ENT having superior Warp drive... if it did, then what the heck happened to it?

Same way phasers at warp speed was classified in TOS until needed ;)

Though it may actually enhance their reputation as "savages".

now that Janeway has heard from Barniss Frex that they pretended to be innocent Starfleet refugees just long enough to blow up his station, I don’t think a simple message is a sure fire winner anyway. It might be perceived as another bait and switch.

Unfortunately, yes. A face-to-face explanation may be required.
