STAR TREK GAMES SUCK

Those were some great ST games though recently it seems a lot of them quite frankly suck. Not really impressed with Bethesda's track record in Startrek games, I was looking forward to that game Startrek Conquest hoping it would perhaps be a good game plus expand on the Dominion War then I heard you only get two ship types and that it came out and died without anyone noticing. Hopefully something happens that puts trek back in the spotlight in terms of gaming.

Trek legacy although not dire is playable, but its definitely a bargain basement purchase.....i would say the Console version i far more playable.....

Legacy 360...5/10
Legacy PC.....3/10 simply because its a mess...add 1 point more for its being modifiable.

I'm really hoping the next Trek movie bump starts the franchise again and we see some good trek games again.

I still play my old Armada 1 game. There are still tons of mods out there I love to use from time to time. Is it the greatest game of all time? no. But if you just want to have mindless fun building up a wall of ships and then, when you are tired of that, to set them loose..IT IS PURE ASS FUN!!!

Holy cow mr. itchy trigger finger:wtf:. Most of the games ARE pretty bad and the better ones were skins copied onto previous game engines. I know it's not the most popular opinion in the room, but he shouldn't be warned for that.

Well there are more tactful ways of expressing that opinion. The Star Trek gaming 'curse' is a talked-about issue and there is definitely lots of criticism, much deserved, of ST games from fans.

I have a couple Star Trek games that I'm pretty fond of. In fact, my biggest gaming regrets are giving away Elite Forces, and not getting EF II and New Worlds (?). The one thing I would like to see from Trek is a colony based RTS that has skirmishes and a little more building felxibility than New Worlds.

You kiddin'? If this were my board... :D

But seriously, truly great Star Trek games really are few and far between (TNG: Echoes from the Past is still my favourite, and that was on the Sega Genesis!) But honestly, you can say the same thing about Star Wars games, too. There has yet to be a good Battlestar game which isn't freeware, there's nothing at all for B5, Stargate games are just starting up, etc, etc. Licensed sci-fi properties have never had much luck in the gaming space.

However, original sci-fi franchises such as Mass Effect are a different story. Perhaps the problem lies in adapting the narrative to an interactive format, in which case building something new from the ground up is probably easier.

I don't know, I had always kinda enjoyed it. Of course, I was only able to get it from the library twice, so I never got very far into the game. I do agree that I dislike the lack of saving abilities.

New Worlds? :wtf: That's probably the worst one out of the Interplay games, because you can't even save!

You can save....but only after you have completed a level...and yes a level can take up to two years to complete.;)

Still i think the big D was right in giving the OP a warning, starting threads with the pointless "Trek game suck" opener is definitely not a good way to start a thread, nor is it true.

I agree with Daedelus. If this were the relicnews forums that post would have been deleted about two mins after it was posted.

I do worry when somebody lists "great" Trek games, and one of them was never actually released. I love Trek, but aside from 25th Anniversary and Judgment Rites, there's very few that have come close to being among my favourite games.

Glad I never frequent there. If you can't handle criticism on the internet then you have issues.

I've played TNG: A final Unity. Bridge Commander, and Armada II

A Final Unity was a great game! Worthy of being a TNG episode, and a story line better than half the actual TNG episodes themselves lol.

Bridge Commander is nice for mindless phasering fun (I love loading up the Galaxy X variant and targetting like 20 phaser beams on a Romulan Warbird) but it gets boring fast.

I was dissapointed in the graphics for Armada II, so I never bothered playing it much.
