Star Trek covers EW

While I am shocked-SHOCKED!, to see the bridge be as different as it is, I think it looks really neat. Yes it's different then what we have seen before, and yes it's not exactly the same, but what would be the point of doing the same thing exactly as the original.

Atleast now it will quelm the fears of all those people saying REMAKE= DARK.

And the gooseneck lamps are back I see.

Time for all the TOS purists to:

FREEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!

The only thing I see thats a huge departure is the yeoman's station. I'm not digging the yeoman's station. I'm really not too concerned though. For all we know, this bridge will get blown to shit and they'll swap it out for a more familiar one.

It's a EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!!

It seems like all the shots they released are from the same scene or a couple back to back scenes. Kirk is out in the snow, he makes it back on the ship, there is discussion on the bridge, Spock flips out, ect.

You know, the more I look at that bridge, the more I think that structurally its pretty traditional to the TOS Bridge, but it's the detailing that looks COMPLETELY different.

The one piece that looks completely out of place is Uhura's station and the glass behind it. The rest of it does look like it's in the fashion of TOS, but looks more like it's from the 24th Century; more 1701-E than 1701 no bloody A, B, C, etc. Makes you wonder what stuff in the scenes set in the future look like.

I think the glass may be some sort of HUD, something one would expect a futuristic starship to have.

Bridge absolutely reminds me of Mike Minor's art for the phase II bridge in design and color, but this is supposed to predate TOS, not come after it. A little distracting in terms of being so bright, but one would hope they have cause to dim the lights a lot.

It is very close to what I guessed it would be like ... unfortunately for me.

Well, it's certainly different. I think we can now safely throw any preconceptions out the window. ** waits for Dennis to squeal with glee **

Can't tell if I like it or not, yet. It will take some mental adjustment. (About as much adjustment as it does with set designs from any other Star Trek movie to the next, I guess.)

I think I always knew in my heart of hearts they would retcon the christ out of the bridge.

And behold, it happened. My first reaction was negative to that particular picture and to the EW cover, but the other pictures don't look bad and maybe the bridge will look better when we've seen more of it.

:rommie:

I don't see why there's any reason to believe that these scenes go in any particular order, or whether they are near in time to each other or not.

For some reason, I really think this is version 1 of the bridge, and sometime during the film Enterprise gets the shit beat out of her, and at the end of the film when Kirk becomes Captain Kirk, the Enterprise bridge will be more like the original after the repairs are complete.
