If you notice, all the uniforms (well, the ones for the men, at least) have black, long-sleeve, undershirts. I'm sure he just has taken his off. Captain's prerogative.

Did you read the Entertainment Weekly article? They come right out and state that Paramount wanted a total reboot. When Abrams stated that it will "respect" current cannon does not negate that it's a reboot.

I, for one, am happy. I have always been unhappy with some of the stuff I saw in Trek, and while I love the show, I will enjoy another take on the series a la Battlestar Galactic (though, obviously, not as dark).

As a fan of TNG, I really liked the new uniforms in First Contact. I thought they were the best trek uniforms to date. These ones give them a run for their money (they even look more "futuristic").

I don't give a shit if it's a reboot or not... I'm no purist or canon-nazi.I'm open to new things and change.
It's the spirit and optimism of Trek I really care about.
