Star Trek costumes!

Elemental

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
I fulfilled a life-long goal this Halloween and got a Star Trek uniform costume and went as Captain Kirk (after using some temporary hair dye).

Who else here has some pics of themselves in uniform?

Great pic, Elemental!

I ran an Australian "Star Trek" club, ASTREX, for many years. At one point, a raunchy Australian soap opera, "Pacific Drive", was slotted against "Star Trek" prime time reruns - and I had a tough decision to make! Actress Christine Stephen-Daley, who played naughty Amber Kingsley in the cult soap opera, helped me to choose which channel to watch. And afterward (sshh!), we went back to her hotel room to share a pizza.

This pic appeared in a weekly national TV guide at the time (1996). I was quite a hit that week with the 12 year old girls at the school where I taught. "You know Amber?" they wanted to know.

The uniform top is made from a once-fashionable red velour shirt I actually wore as a regular sweater in the late 70s. It had developed two small moth holes, conveniently exactly where the insignia had to go.

I've bought a star trek uniform, the DS9/FC uniform, but I sent it out to be tailored first so I don't have any pictures in it... once it gets back though, I'll be sure to post them here.

I've often thought about getting a FC undershirt to just wear as a normal top. I'd get it tailored though. I always LOL when I see people in off the rack uniforms that hang off them so unflatteringly.

They are uniforms. Not costumes.

When you're playing the part of an officer, it's a costume.

If you're a real officer, it's a uniform.

Have a sense of humour?
When simply seeing stark text on a screen, it is easy to miss humor. Especially when one is new on a messageboard. the addition of ";)" after your post would have made it clear that you were joking.

I'm sad to say that we DO have posters that would have made the same post that you did, and NOT be joking.

Sense of humor? What are you talking about, I wear my uniform all the time, I am a real captain after all, you can see it posted below my name on the left. What's that admiral? It's time for my happy pills; YAY!;)

Have a sense of humour?

I posted a pic of me in a Star Trek costume, being phasered by a famous Aussie starlet, and you wanna know about my lack of sense of humour? :guffaw:

There was nothing in your post to indicate humour eg ;) , so I assumed you were serious.

Exactly. There are many out there somewhere (in the most unexpected places) who take it all way too seriously and think that Starfleet et. al. is a really real thing and that they really are a serving member of the Federation. :guffaw:

Nice to see you had a red shirt on there, Therin (isn't that your old "Therin of Andor" redshirt?). Made all the more sense for "Amber" to phaser you... :techman:

Yep. I had TMP, ST II and TNG uniforms/costumes available but they needed TOS, of course.

For the nine years I had the beard, poor ol' Therin was unavailable. Ditto Robin the Boy Wonder. I spent more time impersonating Tellarites (and ST III's Maltz) in those intervening years.

Oh I know. When I bought mine I was like, NO WAY am I going to not get it tailored. I'm an overly skinny guy anyways, for length I need a medium, but for width I'd need a small or extra small. So I got a medium, but it would just look so weird if it wasn't tailored. Especially since it's supposed to be a mostly form fitting outfit.

Yeah... that'd be about right. But then, I only knew you with the beard - I never saw you without it...

I found this TNG engineer on ebay and got it for 40$ I liked it becuase it was better than my Science TNG shirt wich is the wrong material and don't have the seams where the sleeves start on the shoulders. The pants are just black suit pants.

Yes I need to get it tailored. Just not sure were to go at this point. My biggest complaint is The sholder seams are hanging off my shoulders. They also have shoulder pads in them. Not sure if they should or need to be there. And the sleeves are way to long. I tucked them under for the pictures.

It's interesting to see the different kinds of Star Trek nerds.

I mean, you guys dress up like unibrow aliens. Personally, I'm not into the dressing up thing, but I'll bet I can beat you at Star Trek Scene It.
