So the model is almost done just a few things left to model most getting the windows in the right spot. and doing some thing with the torpedo tubs on the lower hull just needs some detail
up the poly count then some quick texture work.

okay let see need some help looking for good image of the bussard housing image from the film need a good clean image

This is cross posted from another thread and originally off of the creator's facebook page. It's concet art so I'm not sure if it'll help you with the bussard collectors though but it was mentioned that he didn't design it as is to have a shuttle bay apparently. There should also be a trekyards youtube channel episode up on the ship including in depth discussion with the creator sometime soon.

Heads up Trekkies.......
I've decided to release my Franklin design renderings early as I'm getting tons and tons of messages about when am I going to release them.
I'll release these now and on Tuesday my Yorktown work, and then Thursday my Enterprise renderings.

Note the 'bite' out of the rear of the saucer, between the two impulse exhausts. Perhaps there wasn't a shuttlebay per se, but simply a shuttlepod or two clamped on in that space, and the shuttlepods are missing from the crashed Franklin.

But wait! (Without reviewing the nearly 70 posts ahead of this one) In STB we see a video log of landing shuttlepods don't we? I specifically thought, "Hey, that's cool that they pretty much used exactly the design from the show." The shuttlepod must have been somewhere...

The last time it was mentioned in the thread I hadn't seen the movie but I was on the look out for it when I saw the film this weekend. The ENT style shuttle was shown in a grainy video stored on the Franklin but we have no context for the video. The video for instance looked like it was filmed in a large cargo bay with tall ceilings and there is no such type room that we were shown on the Franklin (either in the movie or the Popular Mechanics cutout image). For all we know, the home video style clip was on a space station as the crew was about to board shuttles to be ferried over to the Franklin (by exterior docking).

NX-01 shuttlepods are tiny (about 13-foot long), so I think there'd be room to squish at least one and a (concealed) drop bay somewhere.

Well I'm not sure where the shuttlebay would be. But reasonable it would be in the forward section of the saucer as much of that area should be cargo storage. Its pre nx-01 so it would have to be a drop Bay Also note the Franklin is not able or not supposed to function in atmosphere. I might find a spot that it would fit will get a render showing the size of a shuttle pod. Bit trying to figure out the bussards at the moment. maybe I'll hold off modeling and see what details come form that trekyards episode?

The designer of the Franklin stated there is no shuttlebay because the ship is too small to have one. That's the definitive word I guess.

Hello everyone so i have been working on a 3d model of the USS Franklin based on the concept art.
I think I have gotten pretty close tho still not sure as to a secondary hull perhaps their might be a few ideas form others.

Heya there Mr turtleman747. May I ask you kindly if I could possibly be sent the 3D file to print my own out. I'm a massive trek fan and I'd love a model of this ship. What could i offer you in exchange for this or for you to print me one please. Thanks for your time.

Nice. I did an attempt at the Franklin a while back too, ended up 3D printing my mesh.
