I mean, Micheal Burnham IS wearing a spacesuit when facing off with him. Probably setting this scene in outer space. So the klingon she encounters needs a spacesuit himself.

That being said, I'm really not sold on the new design aesthetic they are selling the klingons for. This is a hell of a great design. It just bears no resemblance to anything klingon ever seen before...

I dig the idea that a Klingon spacesuit really would just be armor when you get down to it. The overlaid plates give it a ribbed, organic look, like armadillo armor.
