So, the "Torchbearer..."

I love how these Klingon Designs scream symmetry so much that you just know the artist spent a lot of time doing just one side of the piece and simply duplicated/inverted it horizontally when he was done. I love it. It goes back to the leaked Concepts of the Klingon Sarcophagus Ship. It gives an intense ancient alien vibe.

There are so many elements in that Helmet. I get completely lost looking at it sometimes.

If these are really Ancient Klingons, they are doing a nice job conveying the general idea that in some aspects Humans are just a bunch of scrublords compared to the Klingons. We're told they've been fighting off Alien Invaders when we were just barely exploring our Planet. That they had an Interstellar Empire way before we made first contact with the Vulcans. So it makes sense these (living) "relics" look too much weird and majestic to our eyes.

God, I just want to watch Discovery and finally understand who these Klingons are. September looks so far away. :sigh: Can't we just circle around the Sun until we're 2 months in the Future ?

Absolutely stunning. Just.... stunning. The detail on that thing is tremendous. And the d'k tagh is a thing of beauty.

Long live this budget!

And as long as you're right and they aren't actually Klingons CBS All Access will get my money.

Otherwise Yo-Ho-Yo-Ho it's a pirates life for me.
Oh so if the show doesn't do the thing you don't like, you'll watch and they can have your money. But if they do end up doing the thing you don't like, you'll still watch it, you'll just steal it.

How noble of you.

So it's not an enjoyment thing at all then - the studio have created a show you want to watch, you just want to steal it if it doesn't do exactly what you want. You feel you have the right to punish them for not taking creative decisions you agree with, not by simply not purchasing, but by stealing the product. Classy.

I like it! It's something new and original!

Personally, I'm still not convinced these aren't ancient Klingons. Everything about their design and art direction screams Klingon antiquity to me.
True. Nothing says "Olde Timey" like a design reminiscent of a suit of armor (I'm being serious, by the way, just in case someone misconstrues my post for sarcasm).

But if that's a production designer's intent (i.e., to allude to a suit of armor look in order to give an aspect of the show or a plot point a feeling of being something from antiquity), then they need to still give it a modern look, because the "feeling of antiquity" they would be trying to convey would still be a space-faring antiquity.

So far, from the design and aesthetics, I am loving what they're doing with this series! This will be a Trek series with some serious quality to it, with quite a lot of highly-regarded talent involved in front of and behind the cameras!

And @Fateor and those who are complaining: they are Klingons. It's been established. Get used to it. They're different than humans, they sure as hell look it now, as opposed to guys in buzzcuts and beards with painted bubble wrap for belt buckles.

This is Star Trek's vivid imagination starting more and more to come to life because budget and technology has been catching up. And I, for one, am glad it's here and gladly paying CBS to see every stinking episode of this as well as the other Trek series the have on All Access.

I was just having this argument with my girlfriend this morning.:wah:

I mean, Star Trek is such a huge part of my life. Sometimes I forget: WE ARE GOING TO HAVE NEW STAR TREK IN TWO MONTHS IN THE MIDST OF THE GOLDEN AGE OF TELEVISION. The show looks phenomenal. They clearly are putting up a big budget. They have a great crew, great actors, great producers. I couldn't be more optimistic right now.

Man, this is going to be the best looking Trek series by far!

I agree. I want a good story to go with it, and from tweets from the production folks (as well as cast), they're paying attention to every aspect of this series. They get Star Trek. They know what goes into a good story. I am hoping that it translates well onto the screen.

Luckily, I have a wife who likes Star Trek and a daughter who LOVES it! Beyond that, my parents have been fans since Sept. 8, 1966, so it's a family thing (even more so, watching Trek got me through some very tough times).

Although I love the latest movies, seeing the little teasers here reminds me of a kid of 7, going with my family to see TMP on opening night. When my world and mind was opened so much more, that I found a group of friends on the screen that made it OK to be a dreamer, to wonder, to want to see what's out there and explore.

Things like this remind me how I can look up in a clear night sky and not just see dots. I see stars and the infinite wonder in them. Trek has always done that for me, and this is sparking that all over again.
