Rumblepad function for computer games?

I just bought a Logitech Dual Action controller which is basicly like a Playstation 2 controller except without the rumble feature. For $20 more I could have gotten a wireless similar controller except also with a rumble function. I haven't yet opened the one I bought and I'm considering making an exchange but I have no idea how many PC games actually include a rumble feature. Does anyone know of any? If there are very few then I will just stick with what I have. Thanks!

There aren't a whole lot that use the rumble function on PC, to be honest. It's mostly MechWarrior games, flight simulators, things like that.

Here is a list, and I can at least confirm the following games use it:

Battlezone II
Descent 3
Dethkarz
Heavy Gear 2
Incoming
MechWarrior 3
MechWarrior 4
Messiah
Tachyon: The Fringe
Freespace 2
Soldier of Fortune

Something to keep in mind is that you might need to install a special DLL for it to work. The original IFORCE.DLL doesn't work with newer force feedback controllers. You need to find a copy of IFORCE2.DLL and put that in your Windows\System32 directory.

Thanks for the list! I'd tried searching the net and wikipedia for something like that but had no idea it was referred to as "force feedback".

I just played Ghostbusters: The Game, which had really good rumble... but I think the only gamepad that the game "officially" supports is the 360 controller.

The new XInput system only supports the 360 controller at the moment afaik. It may be standard practice to use force feedback with that controller, but it's not exclusive to XInput.

I believe DX/DirectInput has supported force feedback for ages now, like 10 years. It's really easy to access controller functions through the API, so force feedback hasn't been hard to implement, it's just rarely been used.

I'm sure once the internet porn industry gets in on it, it will be easier to install into games everywhere.
LOL, you know, there's probably a multi-million dollar payout in that idea. USB force feedback device for virtual porn... Now who wants to volunteer their weenie for the product safety testing?
