Problems with Star Trek Bridge Commander Remastered

I've just installed BC Remastered, and am having problems playing it. Whenever I try to launch it, I just get a black screen. No error message, just a black screen. I have followed all the steps in the installation guide, and am at a loss as to what to do. I have already tried editing / deleting 'options.cfg'.

It's a pretty old game and I haven't played it in years.

Knowing absolutely nothing about this mod, my first (and probably only) recommendations would be to make sure you are launching it as the admin and in compatibility mode with the version of Windows that was prevalent during the game's heyday. Also, sometimes with older games, the hangup is not on the game itself, but the introductory cinematics.

I was able to installed a copy of Bridge Commander (Maximum Warp edition I believe?) to my G3 gaming laptop and run without issue. I cant recall if I had the black screen issue.

That being said, GoG has it's own dedicated forum where issues running the game are troubleshooted. This might be a good avenue for a solution if you have not already found one. I was able to fix a few old activision trek games thanks to advice I found on those forums, one of which may have been the black screen issue. My memory is a little fuzzy.

a lot of the threads mention game not starting / opening on black screen. May have to do with graphics cards and resolution settings. Checking my game and settings, it looks like the game runs at a resolution of 1024 x 768. Any higher and I start to have issues. The game also only recognizes my intel graphics chip and not the nvidia geforce GTX card - doesnt appear anyway to change.
