November is Diabetes Awareness Month. I've been doing #projectbluenovember on Tumblr and Instagram, but more importantly I've been trying to spread awareness through social media, talking with the reporters, etc. for a few months now. The fourth day of #projectbluenovember is "Wear Your Blue!", so today I am rocking a blue sweater:
There are a lot of important reasons for awareness including the need to address the misinformation about diabetes, and misunderstanding of the disease by the general public, the stigma surrounding it, lack of treatment options, and the unaffordable cost of life saving medicine and medical equipment. Recently, Sen. Sanders just recently took up the cause of insulin price-gouging in the U.S., which is pretty damned cool.
