Penny Johnson Jerald

.... aka Kasidy Yates. I liked her from the beginning. Unfortunately I never saw Penny Johnson in a different role. Didn't know that she appeared in TNG either.... Any other Kasidy/Penny fans here?

If you haven't watched it, check out season 1 of 24, Penny has a big role in there and the first season of 24 is amazing. (although I always watch it with the alternate ending) She also appears on other seasons in 24.

 

[Bad Thoughts]

Good actress that was criminally underused in DS9. She had the talent to become part of the regular cast after Farrell left. Moreover, it would have been nice to have seen many more scenes between her and other characters beside Sisko and Jake. Ironically, she credits how she approaches how her character on Orville relates to family on how Brooks related to Lofton.

I liked Kasidy well enough. It's always cool to see non-fleeters in Star Trek and I thought the relationship between her and Sisko was very well handled.

I'm not really all that much of a fan of Seth McFarlane's humour so I can't say anything about her Orville character.

I wouldn't say I am either, but I do like The Orville.

She did a memorable turn in 24, but I also remember her from Castle. I've seen all of ER, but didn't remember she was in that.

Seeing her in The Orville, all I can think is why didn't DS9 use her more? I would've loved an episode on her freighter, it would give another perspective to life away from Starfleet.

I didn't like Kasidy - still don't. The only semi-regular from DS9 I never took to.

The actress is O.K. in The Orville I suppose, but it's a show I'm not particularly fond of.

I like Cassidy! Very good character, not my absolute favorite but a good DS9 character.

Always liked her a lot on DS9. And she has the distinction of delivering one of the best lines in all of Star Trek: "You're more like a parody of virtue."

My favorite Kasidy perfomance was in Take me out to the Holosuit..... She convinced Sisko to participate in Vic's holodeck adventure despite his misgivings about the treatment of Blacks in this time frame....

Always loved Kasidy Yates and Penny Johnson Jerald! There's so much warmth and authenticity in her portrayal of Kasidy. My wife and I just completed a rewatch of the show the other day and I think I like Kasidy even more than before.

If you like her, I can also recommend Castle and The Orville.

It's a minor gripe, but I never quite bought that Kasidy was interested in helping Vic in the first place, as we never saw them interact before that episode. As I said, it's a minor thing, but her motivations are not clear for me in this one.

Decent actress; adore her on "The Orville", managing to pull of some absurdity - see spoiler below if you date. There's a panel with the Orville crew she's in and she said some great stuff in it too. Really comes across as a sincere person, and it's nice when actors are allowed to put some of themselves and refine the characters they play. It really adds a lot.

She develops an intimate relationship with the robot Isaac, which has a decent build-up and a positively great first episode ("Into the Fold", from season one) but after a certain event from season two

Kaylon destruction of all biologic life forms

they dropped the subplot . If they dropped the stupid filler smartphone episode in favor of a proper arc conclusion, that would have been far better.

I remember liking her on another sci-fi show, "The 4400". I thought she was on for an entire season of that show, but I guess it's been awhile since I watched it, since after checking wikipedia it turns out she was only in 3 episodes.

I never liked the character of Kassidy, she was a bland, uninteresting part of Sisko's story. The producers made her part of the Maquis in some fashion to shake up Sisko but I never cared for development and the outcome. I thought Penny Johnson Jerald really shined for me as Sherry Palmer on "24"; she presented all facets of the character which intrigued me. She was cunning in many scenarios in that TV thriller, and I enjoyed her way of creating a situation and getting out one. She showed how passionate she was for her husband or ex-husband and expressed how complicated and entangled the political jungle is and how the situation can present a certain point of view to a person. I love characters who can be tough and show vulnerability and Sherry Palmer was that person.

But you see every character had to be converted into a fanboy/girl of Vic and his awful music, no matter if it made sanse or not because he was played by Ira Steven Behr's favourite singer
