Paramount + issues?

When I went to watch Picard the other day, I got an error I've never seen before and which isn't mentioned in any of the help lists (code 124).

I've never had issues with Safari running P+ before, and I got it to work on Chrome. But every other website (including Netflix and other streaming services) is working fine, and I'm wondering if it's something on their end? Any advice would be appreciated.

...the problem is not occurring from their side. Therefore, we are required to follow a few common steps for common causes to resolve the Paramount plus error 124 issues:

  1. Restart – to restart your Paramount Plus channel, remove the plug of the computer it is streaming on. Then, plug it in again. The channel along with the other channels will restart all over again.
  2. Check your Internet Connection/ Internet Speed – as Paramount Plus is an internet-based channel you are required to have at least 4 MBPS speed in network connection to stream on the channel. Therefore check if the internet speed is more than 4 Mbps or not.
  3. Clear Cache – either you are streaming it on a cell phone or Browser, you are required to clear cache for smooth streaming on Paramount Plus.

Chances are it's still some sort of connectivity issue, either at credentials-level or some point. The fact one can stream on other services... if not a corrupt cached file in one browser, if it works in another. yeah, I'd clear the cache/temp files and try again. Maybe reboot the device afterward (TV/laptop/computer) logged into P+ with. Resetting browser settings is a more extreme option... but I too am thinking it's a client-side issue...

Well, I normally clear my caches regularly anyway and Safari has no weird extensions. I noticed it the other day and tested it today and still have the same issue, though as mentioned other common streaming platforms like Netflix and YouTube work fine. I use Chrome much less commonly than Safari, so if one possibility is that it's simply due to my laptop getting older (and Safari no longer being the most up to date version), it's interesting that Chrome would work when it's potentially less updated.

It also seems a bit odd that if it would be a potential browser issue, i.e. my version being too outdated, that it lets me login and out normally and Safari doesn't warn me that P+ is potentially unsafe or that it can't get a secure connection. In the past that sort of thing has happened when the browser version simply gets too old to upgrade. I can access P+ normally otherwise, I just can't presently view anything.

Thanks for the info. Maybe eventually I can figure something out. :)

I too am having many problems with my old MAC and Safari, especially with licensing of many sites. My worst problem with my TrekBBS enjoyment is that the free upload site imgbb.com comes up as "Safari can't open the page" because it can't secure a connection to the server, so, many linked images do not show anymore and I cannot upload images anymore. I was told to get a new computer to solve these problems...:wah:

My MacBook is getting old enough I might consider a replacement in the near future - I haven't decided whether to try the new OS upgrade or not. Always makes me feel like an old fart when I trade computers. I've had similar issues on my former machines when they reached a certain stage, and so far I haven't seen that on my current system. The only sites that don't run a secure connection are generally the ones that didn't format the change to https: as the new default.

I haven’t seen that error, but P+ takes forever to load for me. I typically kick it off and then go clean the garage or something until it boots up.
I don’t have that problem with any other streaming service.

It works okay for me on my AppleTV and on the browser for me on my older MacBook, but I had issues with Safari in the past.

I use Firefox as my browser for streaming, and it tends to work really well for P+ for me. That might be an option that could help with your issue.

My Xfinity cable box’s P+ app is barely functional, and the P+ channels don’t work at all, so I’ve given up on using that interface entirely.

I have noted that, unlike Netflix, P+ does seem slightly weird in terms of loading. Netflix simply plays the selection you want, but with P+ you have to select a specific episode and then tell it to play, as if it's not a bit redundant. :D

I've had something similar happen to me with Amazon Prime, specifically while watching the recent season of The Expanse. My guess, popular show with loads of people watching leads to hiccups or something.

At least there I found the problem usually resolved itself within ten minutes or so.

They now put ads into the stream itself, which makes them skippable, but also lengthens the episode by 10 min. Unfortunately, the interface still minimizes the episode after 45 min and then skips to the next one 10 min too early if you don't immediately jump at it and stop it within a few seconds. The ads are also placed in the middle of sentences - I preferred the previous system with ads in places where they are supposed to be and the episode switching at the END, of course

The UK Smart TV app has no skip intro button, and ALWAYS starts with the subtitles on. But at least it plays all the way through.

I miss the days you banged the top of the tv and it started working again.

Every two bit content provider wants their own app, which are all subtlety different. Just let me buy the season through Apple or Amazon and be done with it.

It's not even streaming services, every company wants you to use their specific app to essentially run what you'd do with an internet browser.

At one point I had to upgrade my Roku stick to get P+ to work when everything else worked on the old one. I think P+ just has compatibility issues any time something is updated.
