new Star Trek: Lower Decks comic

I know that comics have their own section, but you may be interested in this: there's an ongoing Star Trek Lower Decks comic coming in November, by writer Ryan North and artist Derek Charm. The artist, however, will be a new one for each story arc.

"Just when you thought we couldn't go lower… we're BACK with the first ever ONGOING LOWER DECKS series," proudly stated IDW Group Editor Heather Antos. "Just like the fans out there, we too want more Lower Decks and this time we're giving it to you tenfold! Ryan North is showing us just how deep of a Trek nerd he is with these stories, and paired with the comedic geniuses of Derek Charm, Jack Lawrence, and more on art duties for a rotating cast of 'episodic' issues, this series is a mission so fun that even the Lower Deckers themselves won't want to miss it!"

I wasn't super impressed with North's first Lower Decks comic, it just didn't capture the essence of the show for me - what really felt like LD was the USS Cerritos Handbook, I would totally read a comic by the author of that.

I really hope they drop the jokes in the margins approach. I'm sure that appeals to some/plenty of people, but I'm not one of them. Not here, at least. In Mad Magazine I don't mind it. ;)

Yeah, I don’t get them either. They don’t add anything to the story and are just distracting

And now, everything dies.

The Cerritos heads to a star system, but it just does not exist anymore. Planet, star, everything just disappeared. Once there, they find a black area where the universe collapses. And it is growing, even growing at warp speed. Nothing will stop it until all the universe is destroyed.

They haven't done the Mirror Universe in the comics, have they? (I think we only saw a simulation of a possible Mirror Universe Cerritos on the show.)
