little glimpse of the starbase in the graphics (training scenario or not):

I got strong The Cage vibes from seeing an imprisoned Pike again.

"When this is all done, you will NEVER see the inside of a starship again."

"Frustrated into a need to display physical prowess, you'll now throw yourself against the transparency."

"Stop that, Cadet!"

Based on the trailer, "Ask Not" feels like there would be enough to it that it could've been a full-length episode.

Wait a minute. Cadets... training... I hope this isn't tidying up loose ends with Pike... if you know what I mean.

In the commercial, it is stated they got a distress call from a starship. I must be hard of hearing - I am having trouble with the name of this ship. What is the name of this ship?

USS Bowman. New ship, possibly (but unlikely) a reference to the Vanguard novels.

If it had been the USS Bozeman, that would've been a nice easter egg.

So why is Pike hooded (with an unnecessarily gadgety techno-hood) when brought aboard - but then ushered into a room that has lots and lots of important display screens on the walls, active with visual information until for some reason (no doubt relating to that kaboom) they go haywire? In-universe, I mean.

Speaking of "hard of hearing", what does the cadet say when swiping her phaser against Pike's cuffs?

"That only applies to an active captain."

The "that" seems a little distorted, as the trailer was cut to make it seem like a follow-up to Pike's direct order to release him, so they are probably two unrelated scenes. They may have ADR'd the That in, and she says something else "only applies to an active Captain."

What if it isn't really Captain Pike?
(another Mudd type doppelganger or some such?)

THAT would be very interesting.

Imagine what that could mean to future events.

Is "The Cage" Captain Pike REALLY him?

<mind blown>
:wtf:

The two after this are animated, and the one after that is the Picard prequel, so it seems that this group of three Short Treks was a pilot or testing out the waters on what to expect in a Pike Show.

Nothing in the first two shorts (and probably this one) ties to Discovery one bit, and they seemed to have abandoned the Discovery uniforms entirely.

...that look like they have straight pylons. But the one on the left looks like it has an extra nacelle on the left side.
I think, that may be some kind of attachment arm from the starbase ... ? ...

Either that or it's just the glow from the lighting on the nacelle.

Also, you can see that the rear nacelle pylon is angled.

Also, not seeing the straightness of those pylons, personally. Although I can't rule it out, either. (I can rule out the original double pylons, though.)

I really hope They show us the actual station during the episode.
<fingers crossed>
