Considering the mix of elements, I think it is pretty good. Without a highjack, what do the tricorders look like?
I'm guessing Tricorder today.
I wonder what the common 'civilian' model of a Communicator looks like.
I'm guessing something more in line with a modern Smart Phone.
The Starfleet one is probably designed to be robust and strong, to be used in a lot of different environments without breaking. Which is why it looks more simple compared to today's phones. It just has the necessary functions.
Its like the military equivalent of a Nokia flip phone. It is just what it needs to be, none of the extra stuff.
TOS loyalists are the first people I ignore. Everything else is fine after that.If even a cranky TOS loyalist who thinks everything new sucks likes the new communicator, everyone else should be fine with it.
I love his wallpapers for the communicator! I got them from him off Twitter, and I use the closed version for the lock screen and the open version for the home screen. A lot of people love it that have seen my phone!
To me, it looks like what we might have seen in TOS had they the technology to do the moire section and the rectangular control area with screens like these.I really like this piece of tech.
That's great! Congrats to Damien Devlin!
His closed communicator is excellent as well!
