MLB 2021 season: Corn-Driven Humidity

The Cubs need to realize their pitching sucks as bad as the offense now. 11 walks isn't gonna cut it, even to the Pirates.

My Angels didn’t do anything to get a major league starting rotation.

Any games we win will be 10-8.

Really looking forward to how the Giants respond to being a surprise team last year. Maybe they won't compete against the Padres or Dodgers, but I could see them maybe contending for a wild card. Yaz is another year on his resume, Posey is coming back and is healthy, and Logan Webb was the surprise of the spring. Really excited for the game tonight.

Unless the Dodgers keep running themselves out of home runs....

I have never seen that happen before. I'm sure it has, but the last team I would have expected a base running blunder on opening day was the Dodgers.

If what happened last night is what I can expect out of the Giants bullpen, it will be a really long year. I know it's game 1, but there is no logical reason why the Giants lost that game last night. That 8th inning was a disaster.

MLB has moved the All-Star break and the 2021 Draft from Atlanta as a response to Georgia's new law restricting voting rights. No word yet on where the events will be held.

I honestly don't know how I feel about this? I doubt they are hurting the Georgia state government in any meaningful way just the vendors and other support staff who were in line to make some extra money during All-Star week.

Pretty sure the state of Georgia sees some tax revenue from all that economic activity. And if the boycott is handled properly, the economic pain felt by those vendors and workers will cause them to demand that the state repeal the law so they can do business again.

Like I said in the other thread (I honestly didn't even notice which thread I was in, just posted in where I saw a new post), it sucks that Georgians will lose out on jobs because of this move, but if people like Stacey Abrams support this action as a counter to voter suppression, then I'm all for it.

I'm just surprised Manfred made this decision.

Manfred's going to have enough labor problems when the CBA expires, he doesn't need to compound it by pissing off the players with political tone deafness.

Glad to see this, and hope other companies and organizations do the same. And to any state pulling this bullshit, including my own state Texas which is also in the midst of passing restrictive voting laws designed to keep minorities from voting.

Goddammit, I had a thread title and a 1,500-word OP ready to go and I told you motherfuckers to hold your horses, I'd post the thread when I got home from the hospital. :p

Anyway, word is that Denver is a leading candidate to host the All-Star Game. Fucking do it, MLB, I demand 900-foot dingers in the home run derby. Turn off the humidor for a few days, go the whole nine yards.

The Brewers and Twins game right now, they were throwing no-hitters against each other. Brewers lost theirs. Twins still have theirs going.

From what I've read, knowing Twitter isn't the bee all and end all of life, people who support the bill are already screaming "cancel culture." I doubt it will do much than polarize the bases. It's a miracle the States hasn't devolved into civil war.

The Astros open their season by taking a four game series from Oakland by a combined score of 35-9. :D

:p

The Phillies are 3-0 after sweeping the Braves. And I guess 0-0 is a better record than 0-3, because the Braves are listed in dead last place in the standings, behind the Mets and Nationals who haven't played any games so far because the 'rona.
