March Madness Fantasy on Yahoo!

The only one of my teams to make it to the final four was UConn. Aside from that, everything is done. I had OSU winning it all.

The way I figure it, if I'd chosen both UConn and Butler to win their final four games I'd still have a chance mathematically in second chance tourney pick 'em, but since I expected Kansas not to play the poorest game of their careers against a play in team, I chose Kansas and had Butler losing to them in the final four. I can only pick up 1 more point if UConn defeats Kentucky while whoever is in first place must be able to pick up 2 more points. If he/she is ahead of me, they must have chosen three correct teams on the second chance final four bracket and one of them must be Kentucky since my percentile didn't drop to 98th until after the Kentucky game even though it didn't drop after Kansas/VCU, in which I picked Kansas.

Why not write about it in this BBS post, rather than spamming links to your blog?

Does it really make a difference? Some people might prefer a link.

The point is that the Big Six conferences are no longer the dominating force in NCAA basketball. Butler came within inches of beating Duke last year in the finals, and half of this year's final four is composed of non-Big Six teams.

Of course much of the reason for the Big Six being weakened is kids bolting for the NBA early. And some even decry this trend. But these early defectors to pro ball were never really student athletes to begin with, only athletes. The true student-athletes are left to compete and are now more evenly distributed among all of college basketball, not just the Big Six.

Parity is great for college basketball. And it's great to see the Big Six being humbled. Especially the Big East!

On MSNBC this morning, they talked to espn.com. Out of 5.9 million brackets entered in their contest, 2 picked the final four correctly. There's always somebody who just fills out a bracket willy nilly and gets it right out of sheer random chance. In this case, 2 somebodies.

Damn, I'm still pouting about being in second place on the second chance pick 'em. Kansas always kills in the big 12, but it just had to tank when my $5000 bracket was on the line. :scream:  Against mighty VCU the play in team.

I ALMOST had the final four right in 2007. My idiot self wasn't paying attention and sent George Washington to the final four instead of Georgetown :scream: However, that wasn't much of a stretch. Picking VCU was either genius or seemingly foolish rooting.

It's virtually impossible to predict these things. I live in Richmond and have been following VCU all season. They had a good season but not a great one. They actually stumbled down the stretch.

VCU also got their asses kicked by my team, the University of Richmond, during their one regular season meeting. So who knew? Those 2 peeps out of 5.9 million who got the Final Four picked with their hearts, not with their heads, and just got stunningly lucky. It happens.

Personally, I understood Mason to be the better team than VCU this year. IIRC, Old Dominion was playing better than both down the stretch. VCU this year kinda came out of the blue.

Yeah, UConn is my only team still in it, too. And somehow I'm in second place! :wtf:

Exactly the same for me. I'm in second place with just UConn. Even sadder, the person I'm going to lose to has no teams left. They just did better in the earlier rounds.

Looks like it'll come down to us two in the battle for 1st. I've scored all the points I can, but with a win by UConn, you can move into 1st.

Hard to believe that with only 68 points, I'm still in the top 97% nationally.

On ESPN's Pick'em, only two out of the 5.9 million entries have the final four correct. I suspect those two put in multiple brackets and may have filled out brackets to cover every scenario.

I never expected to even do this well (I don't follow college basketball at all), so I won't be terribly disappointed if you win. :techman:

I still can't fathom why I chose Pitt to win it all, though. When I was filling out my bracket, I didn't know they had a history of choking in the tournament. I almost went with UConn to win it all, but I decided to go with the upset instead.

Wait a minute. Are you speaking of second chance tourney pick 'em? I was booted down to the 96th percentile after the Butler-VCU game today, but after the UConn/Kentucky game in which I'd picked UConn, it now says I'm in the 99th percentile again.

So, I had UConn and Kansas in the title game. With Kansas winning. Which means I can't get anymore points. So--tell me my miserable luck is intact. One of you has UConn winning it all and can pick up more points, right? :scream:

Speaking of the original one. I didn't do Second Chance. I had UConn going to the final, but not winning.

Thank you for the info. I'm just sick about the second chance tourney. It's a $5000 prize and if I'd picked UConn to win the title game on my ballot, I'd be guaranteed to be at least tied for first place (if UConn wins) and the cash prize would be determined by the score of that game as a tie breaker. If I'd picked UConn to win it all--which I thought about seriously and then changed my mind :weep: I'd have a legitimate shot at that money, which I really could use.

But I picked them to lose the championship game and I don't have Butler on the other side. :scream: :scream: $%$^&%!!@$&*$%(#@!!!%%$#@@$%% I could just kick myself!!! It's the story of my life.
