What are guys bitching about answers for? We're a few eps in and we've already learned about smokie and the numbers. Those are 2 pretty big nuggets of info IMHO

huh? when did we learn about the numbers???
Jacob's list. The names of the Losties correspond with the magic numbers. Jack is 23. Kwon is 42. Locke was 4. I forget about everyone else.

4 - Locke
8 - Reyes
15 - Ford
16 - Jarrah
23 - Shephard
42 - Kwon (could mean Jin, Sun, or possibly even their child... although that last one seems highly unlikely)

Where is the Claire actress from? I feel like Evil Claire is significantly less Australian-sounding.

IMDb lists her as being from Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia. She's played a LOT of roles which have required her to hide her accent, so that could be why. At this point, she might just be used to doing it. Hard to say for sure.

Emilie de Ravin is from Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia. Of course, her natural Australian accent might have softened given that she's been living and working in the US for ten years.

^Then again, she sounded pretty thoroughly Australian while talking to Jimmy Fallon the other night.

Above Average. My favorite part of the episode is the look that Ben gave Sayid before he backed out of the room. So awesome.

I was quite surprised to see the people of the temple annihilated so quickly. So much for any answers they might have had. :shifty:

So except for the people following smokey around, the Others are pretty much toast at this point? As well as the people from flight 815? Maybe Smokey really does want everyone on the island dead.

My fanboy theory of a good Sayid versus bad Sayid showdown in a future episode is looking more and more plausible!

I got an odd vibe from Claire in the hole when she heard Kate tell her about Aaron.

It seems to me that since she heard Jin "lie" about her son and then heard Kate confirm the story, I got the impression that she realized that Flock had lied to her about the others having Aaron.

Maybe that's why she didn't pick up another gun and blow Kate's head off; she was perhaps rethinking her allegiance to Flock.
I took it as more sinister than that, it's like the infection was using Aaron as an excuse to get Claire's body to act, but now the infection has spread so far that it doesn't need that pretence any more, she has gone completely to the dark side. Claire is dead, Sayid is dead, what is left of them now in an empty shell under NotLocke's control.

However, that is clearly not what is happening because I have never been able to accurately predict what is going to happen on this show.

I know they can't show all the Other's together on screen at once for budget reasons, but it still felt like there wern't that many there at the temple. Sure a lot could have been inside when Smokie attacked and died "off camera", or a lot could have left the temple, but only a few joined up with Smokie right away and the rest are out wandering around.

I mean when Locke was traveling with them back in season three there seemed to be a lot more of them, plus there were always supposed to be more at the temple as well on top of those that were with Ben.

Add to that all of the ones we've seen at the barracks and on Hydra Island over the years, I think either a whole lot of them died "off camera" or there should still be a lot of them out running around in the jungle.

^ the only thing you can predict is that it'll say "Lost" at the end of the episode, then the credits. :D

And when the season finale reversed the colors, that change in predictability blew my mind!

I'm trying to think of the conversation between Ben and Widmore after Ben stole Danielle's child. Did Widmore claim that Jacob wanted Danielle dead? Clearly there's some implication that Rousseau was infected (as much as she liked to think she wasn't). Maybe Jacob (through likely Richard, although possible Widmore) did order her killed.

I hope so. The chance for redemption (assuming Locke is evil, of course) would be my hope for Claire.

Yes, the Others are toast. That is, until we meet the Other Other Others who've all been hanging out in a giant pyramid that has yet to be discovered by our intrepid heroes :p

And the pyramid will be a landing platform for Smokey's spaceship, manned by a crew of Other Other Other Others...and Vincent.

The Other other other others are in the the underground chamber with the electricity generating giant hamsters.

Sayid done by the oldest trick in the book "Temptation" though it looks like we have our candidate possibly in Sayid. Though with Kate seemingly left with Locke I wonder if we could have a Kate/Jack showdown but personally the idea of Sayid/Jack sounds like an action packed finale :techman:

Great great episode...I hope Jacob has a hailymary up his sleeve.

I keep thinking back to how Aaron is seriously bad news if "raised by another". Which they're really emphasizing he has been. Perhaps it's not what he'll do that's so bad, but what Claire will be manipulated into doing as a result....

I believe the whole thing was that danger surrounds him and that he needs the good influence of his mother.

Then again, he also said there'd be no happy life for him without his mother.

(Looks in his minds eye and sees Kate raising Aaron -- gasps) "There will be no happy life!"
