List of important season 3 episodes

Hi,

I currently own all of season 3. But I've only seen the first few episodes. Most episodes kind of suck (just like seasons 1 & 2).

Can anyone give me a list of episodes that are important to the overall plot of season 3. And also the episodes that are really good. So I don't have to watch all of season 3.

I disagree and think season three is awesome.

But if you haven't enjoyed any of Enterprise so far, I think you should give up. Why torture yourself?

I loved season 4.
And some season 1 and 2. I've seen them years ago but never had the chance to see season 3. I have it now but it's kinda boring. I just want to watch the important and the good episodes.

I suggest you grit your teeth and watch pretty much all of the episodes, because most of them will have events that become relevant later in the season.

Here are a few you can skip safely:
Extinction: (unfortunately you've probably already seen that one)
Exile: (probably already seen this one too)
North Star (a fun episode on a rainy day but contributes nothing to the mission)
Doctor's Orders (If your saw the Voyager episode "One" just substitute Phlox for Seven of Nine and T'Pol for the hallucinated alien) Also contributes nothing to the mission.

I did once start a thread about trimming Seasons down to 13 episodes apiece. Making each largely story-arc based. Possibly a fifth made up of the likes of "North Star" (which is among my favourites) and other standalones, but which don't fit into that thinking of connected stories. I reckoned you might reasonably get this year down to just these...

1. Twilight
2. Anomaly
3. The Shipment
4. Impulse
5. Similitude
6. Proving Ground
7. Stratagem
8. Harbinger
9. Azati Prime
10. Damage
11. The Forgotten
12. The Council
13. Countdown & Zero Hour
It might seem strange to show "Twilight" out of sequence. But with "The Expanse" still the year before, and months inbetween since seeing it, you need to remind an audience exactly what the stakes are, and that failure is not an option.

Somebody once mentioned editing the Xindi Mission as a feature-film, but that's impossible I'd say...

Episodes to skip:

Hatchery
Chosen Realm

But seriouslly, season 3 and 4 are some of the best in Trek. If you don't like what you have seen in the first 4 episodes I suggest you give up on Star Trek and try Hercules and Xena. I've been mixing those in at I watch Trek from the beginning (TOS) to the end (ENT).

If all you're interested in is the main plot, straight up, with no filler, then here you go:

The Xindi
Anomaly
Impulse
Exile*
The Shipment
Twilight**
Proving Ground
Strategem
Harbinger
Azati Prime
Damage
The Forgotten
The Council
Countdown
Zero Hour

*Exile isn't really that important, but they discover a second sphere and receive coordinates to the planet they visit in The Shipment.
**You could technically skip Twilight and not miss anything, but it's important because it shows what would happen if Enterprise fails.

Technically Raijin and Carpenter Street contribute to the storyline, too, but they do so in such a minor way that you really don't need to watch them. Neither episode is all that great, anyway, so you won't miss much.

But if you haven't enjoyed any of Enterprise so far, I think you should give up. Why torture yourself?

Because seasons three and four are so much better than one and, in particular two. By the time we got to The Expanse, the show was screaming out for something to change the momentum.

I would say Exile and Extinction are particularly poor this season, and offer nothing worthwhile to the plot. I would imagine, though, that you've already seen them. I also didn't like North Star and Carpenter Street, though the latter offers a little something towards to arc. If you can keep going, watch as many as you can, as they tend to have little things that will be relevant later in the season.

It does pick up though. I'd pretty much given up one Enterprise but season three dragged my attention back.

The Xindi

** It's a pretty below average episode with little to do with the overall mission, but it does provide information for the main plot-line.

The others (Extinction, Rajiin, Exile, North Star, Similitude, Carpenter Street, Doctor's Orders, Hatchery and E2 are either standalone ones or only contribute minor details to main plot-line.

Although....

1.) Similitude and E2 are excellent as standalone ones.

2.) North Star, Carpenter Street, Doctor's Orders and Hatchery are enjoyable in themselves.

3.) Rajiin and Exile at least provide minor details.

4.) Extinction is really the only one that isn't important to mission at all, excellent as a standalone or enjoyable for what it is.

Yeah, "Extinction" is pretty much completely worthless in every sense. Even the other weak or standalone episodes either contribute a little something to the storyline, or are just enjoyable to watch. "Extinction" is probably one of the three worst episodes in all of ENT.
