Keller vs Beckett. More intresting "Atlantis" doctor?

I'm going with Keller. Both were kind of vanilla, characters. The reason I give Keller the nod is a few reasons.

1 Jewel Statie is the better actor of the two. He wasn't a bad actor, I just think she is a little better.

2 She is smoking hot! I especially loved how she looked in those black leather pant uniforms, they switched to in season 4.

3 I think she added more to the show in terms of helping the other character's. Beckett was a friend to McKay but I wouldn't say he enhanced the McKay character. Shepard and Zelenki and even Ronon I thought was more fun to see play off, McKay. Beckett didn't really have one character you just had to see him interacting with.

The Keller,McKay romance I thought was pretty intresting. She did ,what the Katie character didn't do and that is be effective in seeing McKay's romantic side. I thought it was a fun side to see of the character, simply because we didn't see McKay in romantic situations in the early seasons. He had his crush on Carter, but that was about it.

Smoking hot is a reason for more interesting??? This explains a lot about the Stargate franchise.....

That wasn't the reason. The reason is because, I felt in most regards they were equal. Neither was great characters. They were both decent characters. I simply think Keeler added a few extra things to make her somewhat better than Beckett. Being sexy is one of them. I don't see anything unique or special about Beckett to give him a advantage over Keller.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Just fell off my chair laughing at that suggestion. Staite? A good actress?? Now I'm not saying McGillion was wonderful, but compared to Staite, there's no contest.

Keller, was fucking godawful. A whiny, annoying, useless, slut of a doctor who looked completely out of her depth, both as an actress and a character. The ONLY time the actress did a good job and Keller was actually likeable and not some whining little girl was in 'The Shrine'. An episode so fantastic, I'm having trouble believing it was the normal writers/directors/producers that came up with it. Same with Staite that one week. Was it really her?

I thought Beckett was a bit more interesting. Also, McKay getting the girl? You know this show is written by straight up dorks if Ronon lost a girl to fricken McKay!

I definitely liked Keller more in Season 5 than Season 4. In Season 4 she was just kind of there, and I was still cranky about Beckett being killed off.

That said, I do think Keller eventually became a decent member of the cast, but Beckett will always win out.

The girl that tripped over a stray leaf and twisted her ankle, once again getting to be the whiny crybaby of the group needing someone to help or rescue her

I don't hate Keller, except that she took Beckett's man...

Yes, hardcore Rockett shipper here.

I'm not so sure, why people like the Beckett character as much as they do. He is a nice character, but I just don't see anything about him that standouts. He is one of those character's that, when you kill them off, you like enough that the death has meaning but not so great that his/her death will have a huge negative impact on the show. In essence he wasn't a core character as I like to call them. On "Atlantis" the only two characters that fit the bill would be Rodney and Shepeard. That is coming from someone who liked most of the character's on the show. I especially grew to like Ronan and Weir more than I did when they first showed up.

I'm sorry he doesn't have boobs for you.

Keller was easily the worst recurring - main character in the history of Staragte. She is nothing but annoying, stupid, eye candle and every time I saw her I wouldn't "How the hell did she get into the Stargate program?!".

I didn't watch season 5, but I heard she was flirting-dating everyone around.

She wasn't all that different from Beckett. Let's not forget that he would freak out evertime he was needed for the Atlantis chair. Beckett like Keller were both civilians and not military types, so it makes sense that they wouldn't know how to kick ass in a fight or would get scared in situations were the military types, would be a little less afraid.

Keller learned to cope with the fear just like Beckett to a point were they were able to get the job done. Let's also not forget that Keller, was just another doctor on staff, untill Beckett was killed. She was thrust in a leadership position, before she was ready and she stayed in the job because she was good at it. Kind of like what happened to Shephard when Sumpter got killed.

I'll say Beckett, mainly because they actuall did something with the character. Had episodes and storylines wich focused on him and developed him and he had fun character moments with everyone else.

Meanwhile, were there any Keller-centric episodes that didn't involve her being captured and dragged through the woods?

I say Beckett was better. I do not think Keller was a slut but the "OMG someone please save me" every ep she was in got on my nerves.

slut of a doctor

So whats Sheppard ? O Neill fucked someone on a mission in season 1 of SG-1. Carter flirts with quite a few guys too. What is a fanboy = Someone who uses over the top anaylsis like this...

Beckett was on the show longer but I can think of a few ep's where Keller was really important. The one where she and Tela are fighting those cannibals and the ep were Rodney goes back to earth and they have to deal with some natural disaster caused by the tech being used by the guy from "NewsRadio."

I'm just not seeing how Beckett had that muh more development, beyond the fact he was on the show, longer than Keller. I would say they pretty much played the same function. Ongoing ancillary character to give the show more characters to root for than just the main Stargate team plus Weir(then later Carter and Woolsey). In essence they were playing the same role that Lorne,Caldwell,Zelenka,Chuck etc performed. Keller's best role in the show was being sexy to look at, and giving McKay a love intrest to play off in the final season. Beckett was kind of redudant when it comes to being a friend to McKay, because he already had more intresting chemistry with Zelenka and Shephard. He didn't have any other realtionship with any of the other mian character's to really make him important, which means he was more or less just playing his job, which is the doctor.

Easily Beckett. Keller managed to take an actress who glowed on Firefly and make her into a dull and annoying presence who was entirely unbelievable as character. Going from day one at Med School to the most lucrative Medical posting in the entire universe before breaking 25 is simply ludicrous. The writers lame attempt to justify this history could have just as easily included Joe Mallozi saying to the audience, "okay, she's absurdly young for the part, but she's hot and we know the sci-fi geeks will go for her."

Beckett. I hated, hated, hated Keller. They just threw us at her waaaay too much early on and it left a bad impression (though, I got accustomed to her by season 5). Also, her character seemed too much of a Mary Sue (even for Stargate) and I couldn't buy into her character background or the fact that she would be on the Atlantis mission in the first place.

As for the "Keller = Slut" thing...I don't necessarily buy into that, but I think the writers unintentionally did a disservice to the character by having her get into romantic entanglements with another main character in almost back-to-back episodes. Where as other characters that might have had a "relationship/hook up" episode, they were reasonably spaced apart (and were fairly rare even then).
