So what's different from you than any other pathetic male who is ill? We all are big babies that want women to take care of us! Luckily I am hardly ever ill and I don't make a fool of myself that often in this regard.

We're so happy for you. Why don't you start a thread about how perfect you are compared to us degenerates and that might save us from running across the preaching and general disapproval you've been spreading all around, this past week or so.

I know you're ill, so understandably a bit cranky, but isn't this a little harsh? I don't know what else RAMA has been saying to annoy you, but there's nothing here that is either disapproving or preachy.

Well, for one thing, like all sweeping generalizations, it's just not true.

It's just not true that all men are big babies when they're ill. And it's especially not true that we all want women to take care of us. As a single man, and a confirmed bachelor, the thought of having a woman take care of me when I'm sick never even enters my head. I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself. And if I ever reach the point where I'm not capable of taking care of myself, I consult a health-care professional.

For another, nobody likes being infantilized. It's natural and normal for people in pain and discomfort to complain--even grown-ups. That's what complaining is for. If everybody could just suck it up and soldier on, then sucking it up and soldiering on wouldn't be considered virtues.

And for a third, it's typical of RAMA's posturing and attitudinizing. Deep down, I doubt that he really believes his good health is due to luck.

I'm not cranky, it's just that the past dozen RAMA posts I've read in different threads were sanctimonious. And each time it's not like he's been judging from experience.

I don't have a beef with RAMA, this was just one too many. It didn't really get to me, I only thought I could hold up a mirror to him.
We all expose ourselves and we all get more or less what we deserve. I've had my share and I'm standing ready for whatever people have yet to dish me.

You are right! I'm starting to feel better this evening. I believe I caught this a day or so after you did. Hopefully, I will be well enough tomorrow to get all the things done that I have neglected this week.
