Ill

We've been passing something around the family. Starts with a sore neck and then a sore throat and then phlegm, lots and lots of phlegm, tiredness and sinus pressure. After about a month I thought I was finally over it and this past Sunday it came back full steam. Yuck. My youngest has double ear infections. She's a trooper though.

We just want to be done with it. Hope you get better soon Holdfast.

This post IS an unashamedly attention-seeking search for the milk of human kindness and general compassion. However, to justify it for the board and not abuse my near-godly and Judge Dredd-esque moderator powers, I will also ask for any cures.

Here.

Have some chicken soup and sherry.

I am not ill *knock on wood* but I pray you get better soon. That, and your thread was pretty great. Feel better, before Christmas vacation!

Didn't even get any sympathy when I went to the Post Office counter to post some parcels - the girl said I was just suffering from man flu. "Man flu"!

As opposed to what--woman flu?

Anyway, get well soon.

Hope you don't drip any human hole products on something that's hard to clean.

Aww, poor baby. Here's some garlic soup.

** holds back of hand to Holdy's forhead **

I'm not sure how that's supposed to help but it's something my mom always did. Anyway, feel better soon. :)

I keep seeing this thread title as the Roman numeral three. And that is confusing my tiny mind.

Feel better soon. I was just ill recently myself. So ill that I actually took my dreaded worst enemy, NyQuil. My secret shame.

Holdy, have you decided yet what you are going to choose for you seasonal name? I can make some suggestions for you:

Bedridden-fast
Moan-fast
Hold-my-kleenex
Hold-my-nose
:p
At this rate, Hold-my-hanky. Or Hold-passed.
Or Coldfast. (I'm rather pleased with that one)
Not bad, "Moan-fast". :techman:

Bird flu, I presume.

I read it as "I'll". So I thought there would be some kind of promise or statement of intention in it. But no. It was just a bit ill-titled.
Like this message title I had to click on the other day (not here) that was composed of only one tiny letter. You have to be sober to aim at those. (Not that I'm ever anything else.)

You'll be begging for attention when you get ill, and then I'll laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh...

I've been begging for attention for years.

Nobody cares.

Who are you again?

Holdfast, are you sure it's not bird flu or SARS or somesuch?

It's worse than bird flu. It's MAN FLU. The most dreadfullest kind of flu there is.

What I want to know is, since it's already debilitating by a factor of 10 because it's man flu, does it get even worse because it's medical man flu?

I love the tags on this thread!

I hope Holdfast and the rest of you feel better soon.

So what's different from you than any other pathetic male who is ill? We all are big babies that want women to take care of us! Luckily I am hardly ever ill and I don't make a fool of myself that often in this regard.

RAMA

I need sympathy.

And hot drinks.

Also, hot alcoholic drinks.

Hot girls are also gratefully accepted, though in my current debilitated state, I'll have to just lie back and let you do all the work.

Others who are ill (even though none of you will surely even approach my cold for sheer depth of illness) may also post, in a joint seeking of sympathy.

Seriously though, I hope you feel better soon. :)

I think I'm coming down with something myself... My throat and nose feel weird, my right ear too. I can't seem to get warm, even though I'm wearing a hoodie, and have wrapped myself up in a duvet on the coach. :(

I obviously caught a cyber-cold from Holdfast, when I stepped into his thread lastnight. I take back my well wishes to him. Damn you! *Shakes fist*

awwww, being sick is such a drag, man.

Ratchet up the electric blanket, put the tv in your room, stock up on juice, mineral water and magazines and then get in bed and stay put- the only way to get rid of a cold is to sleep it out. Drink lots of fluids, eat some mac and cheese and watch some bad tv. Drag yourself to work, infect all your coworkers, leave early and get some popsicles on the way home. Take some Nyqil and have weird technicolor dreams. Feel better in 3-5 days.

That's exactly what I did yesterday. I left before noon.

I thought I was the only one that had weird dreams while on Nyquil. What is in that stuff?

That's how it starts. Get plenty of rest and hopefully you will feel better soon.

I recognise these symptoms. You have my sympathies. :( I'm afraid there's no cure other than 3 days off work, a fiver spent in Boots and a couple of the crappiest dvds you can find to take your mind off things. Sorry. Get well soon.
