If you were offered 4 million dollars to live inside a game for a year which game world, and would you do it?

There are Star Trek video games, right? I'd pay to live in the Star Trek world, of course I'd take a million dollars for it.

Doom.
If I had the physique of Doom guy. Why not take on the hordes of hell?
I didn't read any guarantee you would become the player character, just that you would be 'living inside a game'. What if it turns out you'll be one of those hapless demons? ;)

However, assuming that you'll be in the player's seat (but inside the game) I might go for one of those 'empire building' games, such as Civilization.

After that year, I might write a Ph.D. thesis about 'life as a simulated entity'. In it I would consider questions such as whether the Moriarty description of 'Brief, terrifying periods of consciousness. Disembodied. Without substance', when the game wasn't played could have truth to it, and what the implications could be, ontologically. And, of course, more in general, how the experience differed from our daily life. And I'd publish a popularized version, too. (I'm not quite convinced 4 million dollars will stretch indefinitely if I only wish to live on the interests, even with a fairly modest lifestyle).

I love games, but living inside one of them? I don't know.

That makes it sound terrifying actually when you take into account what Moriarty says....... If the same thing applies to games we run well, equally so unless it's an actual universe that lives on even when the game is deleted

I've never actually watched much of Tron other than a few clips here and there, so I cannot say. The premises seem similar though along with the CGI look.

Point-and-click adventures drive me up the wall, so I wouldn't want to be stuck in one of those.
Maybe something easygoing like Animal Crossing with no risk of getting hurt or killed.

I have never ever played animal crossing, I don't do Nintendo stuff much
I've never actually played it, either. It just seems like it would be a safe place to hide away.
If I wanted more action and exploration, I would choose The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

I agree. Animal Crossing seems a really nice safe space to hide

Too much chaos and things exploding for me:lol:
Unless it's somewhere REALLY out of the way

How many times have the major Federation planets really gotten majorly disturbed though in the prime timeline? The only actual attack that landed against Earth was a single Dominion attack that probably had less casualties than modern Earth wars.

I'm living in Steamwheedle Port in WoW Classic. On the beach in a gorgeous little hut but with a pier for fishing. Close enough to a small outpost for a fun Friday night and diverse food options. Peaceful and most of the (few) visitors are there to fish and chill.

Star Trek Voyager Elite Force - either one or two - would be interesting. Maybe I'd live inside a Super Mario Game for a year - or just the good, old Fernbussimulator. ^^

I've always wanted to just be able to explore the worlds of Rapture and Columbia from the Bioshock series without being under any pressure to accomplish anything...or being at risk of being shot at...so the ability to explore either of those worlds when they were at their primes fascinates me.

That said, both worlds had very foundational social problems, so I guess it would be more accurate to say that I'd like to be able to explore idealized versions of those worlds.

I would pick Hogwarts Legacy
That's a possibility, assuming that my avatar would have wizard abilities. Bonus points if I could choose my age as well. But a 53 year old muggle probably wouldn't have much fun.

More likely, though, I would live in the Pokémon world. Even if I didn’t make it as a trainer, there's other cool stuff to do there.
